Chucky gets lucky!
Chucky definitely gets lucky in this fourth film about the evil possessed talking doll Chucky, "Bride of Chucky". Tiffany, a character we have never heard about until this film, was Charles Lee Ray's estranged girlfriend. She misses her "Chucky" and wants him back. So she makes a deal with a police officer and he brings the remains of the doll to her. Only she never makes the trade. She kills the officer, takes the doll and his cigarette lighter, and leaves. She then goes home and puts Chucky back together with some spare doll parts from her doll bin at home. Tiffany then performs the same ritual Chucky used to get into the doll the first time to bring him back. Nothing happens and she is disappointed. A knock on the door disturbs her and it is her freak boyfriend, Damian. He says he has killed someone and she is angered when she finds that it was only a makeup setup and Damian had posed for the picture. However, when she turns around, she finds that Chucky has indeed awakened. And they have fun "playing" with Damian.
Enter Tiffany's next door neighbor, Jesse. She gets Jesse to help her move a trunk with Damian's remains, saying there are old things in the trunk, to the trunk of her car. She flirts with Jesse but he reminds Tiffany that his heart belongs to someone else. Tiffany is disappointed. Jesse dates Jade, the police chief's daughter. The only problem is that Warren, her police chief uncle, does not approve. He sends his gay friend David to pick her up and Warren seems to approve of David. But David reveals too much of his feminine side while he is there and Warren becomes suspicious. He sends his watch dog deputy, Norton, out on the prowl for them. Norton stops them and Warren arrives shortly after. He brings Jade back home and tells her and Jesse that they can't see each other anymore.
Finally, after Tiffany realizes that Chucky truly is alive, she taunts him and teases him after he makes fun of her for thinking that he would ever think about marrying her. In return, he kills her for it and transmits her spirit into the doll she had bought to tease him with. Now they have another problem. They must have bodies to transfer their spirits into or their bodies become permanent. To do that, they also must have the Heart of Damballa which is still around the neck of Chucky's corpse in Hackensack, New Jersey. Tiffany calls on Jesse and offers him $1,000.00 to take the dolls to New Jersey. Jesse accepts and talks Tiffany into going with them. It seems that Chucky and Tiffany have not only found themselves a ride; they have also found new bodies too.
"Bride of Chucky" is the best Child's Play film yet. This movie had comedy, horror, and romance! The perfect mixture to any film! I absolutely loved Jennifer Tilly as Tiffany! Her voice is so unique that it greatly complemented her character. Also, with every Chucky film, Brad Dourif perfects Chucky's voice even more. You can look back at the original Child's Play and tell the great differences in the emotion of Chucky's voice. I have many favorite parts in this movie. One part is when Chucky is crawling on the street while going to kill Norton in a local convenience store parking lot. There is a stoner in the car and Chucky flips him off. It's hilarious! Another really funny part of the movie is after Tiffany locks Chucky in a playpen and leaves him home alone with a Speak N Spell. The Speak N Spell says "Spell 'Woman"." Chucky spells it, "B-I-T-*-*, you can fill in the rest with your imagination. The machine tells him hes wrong and starts to spell it correctly. He throws it down and says, "Shows how much you know!" The greatest part of the movie are the scenes immediately following Tiffany's soul transferrence into the doll. She is trying to adjust being in a doll's body and she even remakes herself to look like her human self. There are so many great things about this movie that I cannot stop raving about it. It is one of the best horror movies I have ever seen. I did, however, have one problem with this film and it was a line spoke by Jade's uncle to Jesse, "I can make the results (of your Breathilizer) look like Christian Slater on New Year's Eve." I really hated that because Slater is a talented actor and his problems should not be made light of. But that is such a small knock, that I won't count it in my rating.
