The movie begins showing the viewer that Hollywood director, Bobby Bowfinger, is on the downside of life as well as his career. All he needs is one good script to bring him back on top. He believes his accountant, Afrim, has written the script that will save them called "Chubby Rain". He calls around and finds out where bigshot movie mogul, Jerry Renfro will be having lunch and has a friend of his, Dave, steal a car he is supposed to be washing and let him borrow it for a few minutes. He promises to make him his cameraman if he lets him do this. Dave lets him and he meets up with Renfro at the restaurant. Renfro makes an empty promise to Bowfinger that he will support the film if he can bring him the script and have sexy action star, Kit Ramsey, star in it. Bowfinger says he can. Bowfinger then brings the script to Ramsey, who is very paranoid and thinks Hollywood is out to get black actors. He pretends to be a script messenger from a studio and then tells him that he is on his way to Mindhead, much like the Church of Scientology is viewed, while Ramsey is also on his way. He invites Bowfinger to ride with him but throws out him and his script once he finds out he is a fake. Even though Ramsey did not agree, Bowfinger goes back and tells the other people in the movie that he agreed. Dave knows the truth and thinks he should tell the rest of the cast the truth but Bowfinger says they can make the movie around Ramsey and he will not know they are filming it. They start having auditions for a young leading actress and Daisy steps off the bus from Ohio and into his movie. He explains the Ramsey problem to his cast this way: Kit is such a professional that he will break character if he sees a camera. They start scheduling shoots over where and when Kit Ramsey will appear in town. The only problem? Kit is afraid of aliens and that is what the movie is about. He begins to get more and more paranoid which just fits in their film that much better. When he finally loses it, they recruit a look-a-like to fill in when he cannot be there: Jif! Can they finish in time to meet their deadline?

Sound kind of silly and a little boring. It is probably because it was. I watched this movie because Jamie Kennedy was supposed to be in it and because I am an Eddie Murphy fan. However, I was a bit disappointed in this movie. It seems to drag on and on. And besides, no one can really film someone like that. I would think that would be illegal without that person's consent. There was no action in watching them follow Kit around and make him even crazier than he already was just so they could film their stupid script. What I saw of the script, it totally reeked.

So you ask, were there any high points to this movie? Daisy was one of the high points. It was quite funny to see the way everyone perceived her as a dumb country girl but she knew how to sleep around with the different people on the set to get her way. It was also fun to see that Jif was really related to Kit after the whole time they never thought he was.

Overall, Bowfinger is a silly movie. The idea was silly and that was the way the movie came across. I would probably recommend this on a day where you cannot go anywhere and you are forced to watch it. That is probably the only way you will get through it.
