Be Careful What You Wish For!

Elliot Richards is a sad young man who works in the computer industry at a company named Synedyne. He annoys his co-workers by always pushing himself in to their small inner circle. They go out of their way to avoid him. Then one night he catches them at a bar that they said they were not going to that night and he is depressed after the girl of his dreams barely knows he's alive. He prays and tells God that he would do anything to have Alison Gardner in his life. The Devil hears too and moves in on a vulnerable Elliot. She tries to convince him that she is the Devil and grants him a wish that really doesn't prove anything to him. She then takes him to her "nightclub" where everyone seems to know him and they have cookies that he loves. He craves that kind of life and the Devil promises him that if he will sign a contract giving him seven great wishes for his soul. Elliot is reluctant until the Devil shows him what kind of life that he has with Allison. He finally signs and before he starts wishing, she gives him a red pager and tells him to dial 666 and he will come back to her if the wish is not going as he had hoped. He takes it and makes wishes in which he is: rich, powerful, and married to Alison, most emotionally sensitive man in the world and Alison is in love with him, big, strong, athletic, rich, lots of fans, smart, articulate. He wishes for everything that he thought would ever make him happy in the world. But if he gets everything he wants, is it worth his soul? Will it go the way he wants because the Devil is the one granting his wishes?

This is definitely one of my all-time favorite Brendan Fraser movies. I have seen Brendan play in many different roles in films. He is great in all of them. But I enjoy seeing him in comedies the best. There is a natural silliness to him. He is just naturally funny. I loved Elizabeth Hurley as the Devil. She gave the role everything it should have. The Devil was alluring and deceptive like the character should have been played. All of Elliot's wishes made me laugh. I think my favorite one was when he became big, strong, and famous. She made him a famous basketball star like Michael Jordan. Elliot was over seven feet tall and played sports extremely well but he seemed to not have much sense. He meets Alison in the locker room because she is a reporter that wants to meet him. She is anxious to see what is beneath his towel because he is such a big man on the court, she thinks all of him should be big. So Elliot takes her hint and starts to get dressed only to find that the Devil has given him a very small part of his manhood. Alison is amused and tries to get away from him quickly. Elliot is ticked and goes back to the Devil. I started laughing so hard the first time I saw this part when he realizes his manhood is not what it should be. The tantrum that ensues is hilarious!

Overall, this was a very entertaining movie with even a moral behind it that you find out at the end. Ultimately, Elliot learns what is really important in his life and what is not. The antics in the movie were great. The special effects were incredible. There was never a dull moment or one yawn throughout the entire film. I can only give this movie one rate!
