The emergence of the Riddler!!

The story begins at the scene of a bank robbery. Two Face/Harvey Dent kidnaps a guard at the bank and Batman comes to his rescue. He saves him. Fast forward to another day. Edward Nygma, a Wayne Enterprises employee, is excited. He meets Bruce Wayne and shows him his latest invention, a program that can manipulate brain waves. Wayne says it raises too many questions and will not fund it. Edward is furious. When his boss comes back to fire Edward that night, he kills him and makes it look like a suicide. He also tests out his machine on his boss before he kills him and realizes that it transfers one's brain energy to another person and makes them grow smarter. Riddles start appearing between Batman and Bruce Wayne and they all have significant answers. The Ridder is born! He teams with Two Face and a horrible tandem is formed. Can Batman stop them and avoid Dr. Meridian finding out his true identity so that he can save Gotham? Stay tuned, Bat fans!

The cast of villians in this Bat film was the best yet! I don't think they could have chosen a better actor to portray the Riddler other than Jim Carrey. However, there were a lot of problems with this film too. At the beginning when Two Face kidnaps the guard and Batman gets him, he recites somewhat comic book lines like, "Oh no, boiling acid!" That was very hokie. Another problem I had was with the character Harvey Dent/Two Face. Am I mistaken or wasn't Harvey Dent portrayed by Billy Dee Williams in the first Batman. Boy that acid really changed Harvey a lot didn't it? What's wrong with the people that made this film? Did they think we would not notice? Also, Val Kilmer is very good-looking but I still stand by my opinion that Michael Keaton was the best Batman. Kilmer lacked the emotion in the character. I felt like he was speaking monotone the whole movie and there was nothing distinguishing Bruce Wayne from Batman.

However, there were some great scenes, most of them with Tommy Lee Jones and Jim Carrey. I loved the circus scene even though it was a tragic one. Two Face was in his prime. Also when Riddler goes to Two Face's hideout and he finds his good half room and his bad half room. He even had a "good" girlfriend and a "bad" girlfriend. One of the funniest Carrey scenes is when Two Face and Riddler blow up the Batcave! Hilarious! Watch this one and you will be cheering for the bad guys once again!

I rate this film: 10 for the villians, 2 for Batman and Robin
