"Is there a safe place from the dead?"

Four years after her mother's death, psychology professor, Katherine Roshak becomes haunted by her mother's ghost. No matter where she goes, she keeps seeing her ghost and it keeps telling her, "No one can help", the words written in soot in the room where her mother died. Katherine sees a psychiatrist of her own and he is not good. He tells everyone about how crazy she is because she thinks she is haunted by her mother. She is mad and she goes to the graveyard to prove to herself that she is either crazy or right about her mother being resurrected. When she gets there, she discovers the grave has been tampered with and tries to report it to the police. No one wants to help her but one cop, Dominic Delaserra, who recently also lost his wife to suicide. He can relate to Katherine and those destructive feelings she has about her own mother's supposed suicide. She is drawn in closer with Dominic as it seems that he is the only one who believes her and wants to help her. But now the ghost is starting to attack. What cause could her mother have to do such a thing? Why would her mother come back from the dead for her daughter? Or is her mother really resurrected?

This was a great television movie. I think it was on the USA network when I first saw it. It was creepy but not too gross which can be a good thing if you are in the mood for a little horror and a lot of suspense. It begins at the first of the movie when Katherine first sees her mother. I put myself in her place and I got goose bumps running up and down me. Later it was freaky when Dominic's car seat was burned where her mother had apparently been sitting. Plus the message over and over, "No one can help". <Gulp>. This movie will definitely keep you on the end of your seat and it has a surprise ending which I will not give away.

Overall, this movie was good. It had the thrills and chills and the eyecandy (Costas Mandylor) but something was lacking. I think there should have been more hints to keep you guessing about what was happening to Katherine. Plus I guess something might be missing because I am not a big Shannen Doherty fan (I was so glad to see her leave Charmed). That could have been a reason why it felt like it was lacking. I would recommend this movie for a freaky Friday night.

I rate this film: 8
