This very funny and very cute movie starts out with Morticia having the next Addams child. They bring the baby home to a creepy nursery only fit for an Addams. Wednesday makes Pugsley believe that only one of them can stay when a new baby comes into the family because they have to get rid of one of the children that was there before. She suggests it will be him because the new baby is a boy and they only need one. So it seems they decide to get rid of the baby because they want each other to stay and would rather the baby leave. So they keep trying to kill him. They drop the baby and a cannon ball off of the roof to see which one will land first and Gomez catches the baby before it hits the ground. They then try to chop its head off with a guillotine while pretending they are at the Salem witch trials. The baby stops the blade from falling on itself. Gomez and Morticia then decide that it might be a good idea for them to get a Nanny. Unfortunately Wednesday and Puglsey keep scaring them away. Finally Debbie Jellinsky applies and Uncle Fester falls for her at first sight. They hire Debbie who keeps flirting with Fester constantly. She seems like the perfect nanny. Wednesday figures out that Debbie is up to something when she sees her going through her Uncle Fester's papers and Debbie knows that the children know she is up to something. So she sends them away to summer camp after she pretends that they really want to go and approaches Morticia and Gomez about it. They allow them to go. When they drop them off, the children feel out of place. Everyone there is a beautiful rich kid and there seems to only be a handful of undesireables. They meet Amanda Buckman and her rich family first. Her and Wednesday do not like each other. They then meet the camp counselors Gary and Becky Granger of Camp Chippewa. Wednesday has her first crush on a boy named Joel. Once the kids are away at the Addams house, Debbie plays, up to Uncle Fester that is. Debbie moves in on Fester and marries him for his money. She then takes him away from his family so that she can kill him and inherit his money. Wednesday and Pugsley know she is up to something bad and fight their way out with Joel's help but can they get there in time to save Uncle Fester?
This has always been one of my favorite movies mainly because of the cast.Besides the originals, no one has played the Addams family better than the ones that were in this film. My favorite character in this was the bumbling Fester who only had eyes for Debbie. Christopher Lloyd kept me laughing with his facial expressions and the tone of voice he used. But Debbie... LOL! I also liked watching Pugsley and Wednesday trying to get rid of the baby. I loved it when the baby stopped the guillotine blade with just two fingers. But I think the greatest scene in the whole movie was when the play was performed at the camp and Wednesday snapped out of the brainwashing that Gary and Becky had her under. The way she and her friends tore down that camp was beautiful! My favorite part was when she tied Amanda to a stake and stuck an apple in her mouth as she is about to set her on fire. That was totally justice for the snobby Amanda who had treated Wednesday so shabbily!
Ever since this movie has come out on video, I have watched it over and over again. It's great! I would totally recommend it if you want a great comedy!
I rate this film: 8
