If you don't believe in ghosts, you will......
The story begins in a junk yard where Doctor Cyrus Kriticos and his psychic partner, Dennis Rafkin, are searching for the ghost they call, the Juggernaut aka Breaker. Dennis feels the vibes and knows that the Juggernaut has killed 40 victims and his location in the graveyard. Damon and Kalina show up and try to stop them. In the past, as Cyrus has captured ghosts, Damon and Kalina have released ghosts for a living and vow to do the same again. Cyrus and Dennis ignore them and go about their business after Damon reveals that he thinks Cyrus will need a 13th ghost for what he is planning to do. After the Juggernaut is brought out, he goes on a killing spree. Dennis has on a pair of special glasses to let him see the ghosts and he sees what is happening. He hides and gets away from the ghost. However, Kalina's partner, Damon was not so lucky...and neither was Dr. Kriticos this time. Meanwhile, his nephew is just getting over the devastating loss of his wife in a fire and the bills are piling up as they live in a cramped space. It is a breath of fresh air for the family as they learn that Arthur, Cyrus's nephew has inherited all of Cyrus's belongings including his home. The kids are ready to move in but Arthur is not so sure. Soon Arthur finds out that 12 dangerous ghosts are locked in this house: First Born Son, Torso, Bound Woman, Withered Lover, Torn Prince, Angry Princess, Pilgrimess, Great Child and Dire Mother, the Hammer, the Jackal, and the Juggernaut. Not only that, the ghosts are meant to be used to open the gates of Hell and the house is the key. As they go along, Arthur's children become missing and he is shocked to find out the identity of the 4th ghost and what he must do to make this madness end. Dennis Rafkin tries to make things right and Kalina pops in to join the fight. But can their forces be enough to save the children and stop Hell on Earth?
To be quite honest, this movie scared me a little. But I thoroughly enjoyed it!!! It was one of those films when something would jump out at you when you least expect it! The ghosts were terrifying and very well done. I don't know why but the Angry Princess seemed to scare me even more than the Jackal or the Juggernaut. Her eyes were black and could not even be looked through. All you could see was anger and pain in her. One really creepy scene is when Kathy Kriticos is checking out the bathroom on the first night. Yikes! There is blood everywhere and the message written on the floor. I get shivers just thinking about it.
I thought this was a very well chosen cast. Cyrus Kriticos was scary even when he was alive and F. Murray Abraham portrayed this well. Matthew Lillard once again gave us a mixture of a "depraved" sense of humor mixed in with horror. The actor that portrayed Bobby Kriticos showed us that children after they have been through a lot seem to have strange little obsessions through their innocence as exampled through Bobby's obsession with death. Shannon Elizabeth gave an outstanding performance as the sister Kathy. Her screams as the Jackal grabbed her sent shivers through me. Quite honestly, this film was well written and the actors were outstanding! There is only one rating I can give this film!
I rate this film: 10
