When you look at the cover of this movie for the first time, you are probably thinking what I thought when I first picked it up. "Oh Boy, not another teenybopper movie." But I had just seen Heath Ledger in "The Patriot" and I thought I would give it a shot. It paid off.

"10 things I hate about you" is like a modern day remake of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. Bianca Stratford is a popular adolescent who is ready to date. There is only one thing stopping her: her sister Kat. Katarina Stratford is a true shrew in every sense of the word. No guy at that school would touch her with a ten foot pole until one day, Joey decides he wants to date Bianca and would do anything to be with her including paying school weirdo, Patrick Verona (Ledger), to date Katarina(Stiles) so he can date Bianca.

At first Kat hates Verona. She acts as if she is repulsed by him. but he refuses to give up and their love begins to grow in its own strange somewhat twisted way. all the while, other characters' love relationships are blossoming also, but none overshadows the love of Kat and Verona.

There were two highlights of this movie that made it great for me. There is one part where Kat is practicing soccer on the practice field and Verona comes out with a microphone and sings to her while coming down the bleachers. He has paid the band leader to play the song he is singing and the band begins to play. It is so romantic as well as very funny. The other best part of this movie is the ending, which I will not give away in case you have not seen this flick.

Overall, I could not find ten things to hate about this movie, but there were ten and more things to praise it about.
