In a Nutshell: Scary as h-e-double hockey sticks.
Quick Plot: When reporter Rachel Keller's teenaged niece dies
suddenly and gruesomely of "natural causes," Keller's
investigation brings her into the proverbial line of fire when
she watches a "lethal" videotape.
In Detail: This is a fantastic movie. It has foreshadowing,
suspense, scariness, a plot with twists you don't figure out,
and an amazing wrap-up that brings it all together perfectly.
This movie sold me on Naomi Watts--her performance is amazing.
The ending sort of minimized things for me, but it was still
good. Doesn't top The Sixth Sense, but still a great movie.
You'll never look at your VCR the same way again!
Scare Factor: Definitely not for the weak of heart. There are
two very disturbing images that I can still see vividly in my
mind, and the infamous videotape itself is kind of icky. You
jump, you scream, you sleep with the lights on.
Will I Buy It? I haven't yet, but I probably will get a
pre-viewed copy (Ha! That throws a kink in Erin's system,
doesn't it!) I have rented it twice, though, if that's any
indication!
