In a Nutshell: Disappointing. Predictable. Slow.
Quick Plot: Cooper and Leah Tilson purchase an old, dilapidated
manor in order to "escape" with their children from the big
city. What they don't know is that it's Cold Creek Manor
they'll end up needing to escape from.
In Detail: I was SOOO excited about this movie, and now
I'm so disappointed! It's not a terrible movie, but it's not
what you're expecting. Dennis Quaid and Sharon Stone are
definitely underchallenged (is that a word?) in their roles. All
of the "suspenseful" moments you see in the previews constitute
only about the last fifteen to twenty minutes of the movie. The
rest of it is a slow, predictable setup of what's going on. By
the time you get to the suspense, there's no more mystery to
find. It could easily have been an episode of the X-Files (not
a very good one, mind you).
Scare Factor: Didn't even make me jump, although there is a
little bit of gore. Nothing that wouldn't make it on network TV
though.
