How does THE MATRIX RELOADED rule, dissapoint, and confuse many? Let me count the ways...
1: Good Lord this is a great looking movie. Just well filmed and well done all around. The quality is top notch, as are the effects. There are points in which the effects seem a bit cgi, but not many. Everything looks great, and The Wachowski Brothers did a superior job of making this film look great.
2: The story is mind-blowing, almost to a painful point. The stories and the so-called "rabbit hole" grows deeper and deeper almost by the moment. Mythologies are expanded upon, as are many theories. The Oracle is revealed to be something we never thought of, and a sad reality is revealed to us at the end of the film, leaving us with- "huh?"
3: The acting is all relatively top notch as well. With the exception of Keanu Reeves, who acts through his glasses, everyone is at the top of their game, even bordering hammy. Fishburn is an obvious example, he almost seem to make fun of himself and his character by his philsophizing and bantering. Jada Pinkett-Smith is a particularly welcome additio as the bad-talking Captain Niobe.
4: The film could have, in no way, lived up to the hype that had surrounded it for the past four years. Yet it does a real good job trying. Some will be disappointed by all the slow moments in the first half of the film, but will be blown away by the finale. Yet others will never look past the bantering, slow-moving initial thirty minutes.
In conclusion, without delving into the twists and turns of the plot, THE MATRIX RELOADED is all over the charts. It pleases, it disappoints, and although this particular reviewer fell in love with the film, others, unfortunately, will not. It deserves all the attention it gets, and some of the backlash.
Go see THE MATRIX RELOADED for sweet action, a mind-bending plot, and excellent effects. Sci-fi, actions, and drama fans will al by pleased by the effort. And I can't wait for THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS to come out this November. |
