Shrek director Andrew Adamson has begun preproduction on a live-action The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.
Brit director Mike Newell is in talks with Warner Bros. to direct the fourth installment of the Harry Potter franchise, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, says the Hollywood Reporter. Newell's currently working on Julia Roberts' Mona Lisa Smile. Bad Boys II star Martin Lawrence is set to headline Rage Control, a family comedy for DreamWorks about a legendary college basketball coach who, after a public meltdown, is forced to coach a losing junior varsity team. Angelina Jolie has come aboard to play Olympias, the mother of Macedonian king Alexander the Great in Oliver Stone's upcoming epic Alexander. The film also stars Colin Farrell and Anthony Hopkins.
Old School star and former SNL cast member Will Ferrell has signed on for New Line Cinema's The Salesman, where he plays a compulsive liar engaged to two women.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are teaming up for the thriller Mr. and Mrs. Smith, about a bored married couple who discover they're assassins hired to kill each other. Nicole Kidman was originally signed up to play the Mrs., but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.
Will Smith is looking to star in an untitled biopic based on the life of Christopher Gardner, a single dad who went from being homeless to owning his own Chicago brokerage firm in less than 10 years. Disney is planning to make a sequel to its summer hit Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. They've already signed deals with stars Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley, as well as producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski.
Chris Tucker has signed on for the third installment of Rush Hour, along with director Brett Ratner, but negotiations haven't begun with Jackie Chan yet.
Charlie's Angels star Cameron Diaz is reuniting with Mask costar Jim Carrey. The duo is teaming up again for a remake of 1977's comedy Fun with Dick and Jane, about an upscale couple that commits crimes to pay the bills. Barry Sonnenfield has signed on to direct.
Susan Sarandon, Paul Walker and Penelope Cruz have been cast in Chazz Palminteri's holiday-themed Noel, an indie drama that intertwines the stories of several New Yorkers whose lives are altered by the magic of Christmas.
Jamie Foxx is set to team up with Tom Cruise for DreamWorks' Michael Mann-directed thriller Collateral. Foxx takes over the part, initially offered to Adam Sandler, of a L.A. taxi driver who realizes his passenger (Cruise) is a contract killer. Owen and Luke Wilson have signed on for cameos in Around the World in 80 Days, which stars Jackie Chan, Steve Coogan and Jim Broadbent, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The movie features the high-flying adventures of the Wright brothers,  Orville and Wilbur, and the characters they meet on a trip around the world.
Will Ferrell has signed on to star opposite Nicole Kidman in New Line Cinema's Bewitched. He plays suburbanite hubby Darrin to Kidman's nose-twitching sorceress.
Stanley Tucci has signed on to join Steven Spielberg's Terminal. He'll play an Immigration and Naturalization Service rep opposite Tom Hanks, who stars as a Balkan immigrant who makes an airport transit lounge his new home.
Renee Zellweger will star with Russell Crowe in the Ron Howard-directed Cinderella Man, Variety reports. Production begins next spring. The movie, about a Depression-era boxer, is part of a package deal that will pay Zellweger $21 million to star in a sequel to Bridget Jones's Diary.
Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are already considering a third Bad Boys installment, even before the July 18 release of the second, according to USA Today. The duo is also considering working together on remakes of several Sidney Poitier and Bill Cosby films, which Smith's production company has the rights to. Three of the possible flicks are Uptown Saturday Night, Let's Do It Again and A Piece of the Action.
It's into The Woods for Sigourney Weaver and Adrien Brody. The duo joins William Hurt, Joaquin Phoenix and Bryce Howard in the Disney-produced M. Night Shyamalan supernatural thriller about a community haunted by strange creatures dwelling in the surrounding forest during the late 19th century. Production starts October 14 in Philadelphia.
Murder by Numbers' Ryan Gosling wants to Stay with Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts. The young star is in negotiations to costar in Regency's psychologcial thriller from director Marc Foster (Monster's Ball), about a university psychologist (McGregor) who tries to prevent a student (Gosling) from suicide.
Hot off its Oscar success with Chicago, Miramax Films has snapped up feature film rights to another Bob Fosse Broadway musical, Pippin, about the son of Charlemagne, the ruler of the ninth century Roman Empire, and his quest to find true love. Miramax also acquired the rights to Damn Yankees.
Ray Liotta has signed on to give another psycho performance in the thriller Control, about a sociopath being treated in an experimental program. Liotta replaces Matt Dillon as he joins Willem Dafoe and Michelle Rodriguez in the Tim Hunter-helmed film in production in Bulgaria.
Paramount has announced plans to remake the 1974 Burt Reynolds comedy-drama The Longest Yard. Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Productions will co-produce the product. No word whether newlywed Sandler will star in Yard.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is in talks to star in New Line's family comedy Big Sir, about a man who must travel cross-country with his future stepkids while being chased by baddies. The Turm-in-ate-or is also planning to do a sci-fi remake of Westworld, providing his political aspirations don't get in the way, of course.
Adam Sandler is considering starring in Columbia Pictures' Click, about a workaholic who finds a remote that can pause and fast-forward events in his life, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
