Summary: The movie acts as though Halloween 3-6 never occured, and picks up where the first two left off. It is twenty years later and Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) is still haunted by the memories of her homicidal brother, Michael Meyers. She is now the headmistress of a private school attended by her son (Josh Hartnett) and his girlfriend (Michelle Williams). Michael pays Laurie a visit on, of course, Halloween. With the help of a school security guard (LL Cool J), Laurie must now confront her past and face Michael once and for all.
Review:
Tim: It is very, very difficult to make a good horror film. There have been a slew of ones that failed miserably, and this one barely reaches above that. The film is way too short, running at only 86 minutes, and is over before it begins. There is no character development save for Jamie Lee Curtis, there are barely any deaths (not to be morbid, but this is a horror film!!!) The six death scenes aren't that spectacular, and we aren't shown much of anything new.
The end of the movie was by far the best in the film. The final battle between Curtis and Meyers is fairly noteworthy, but far from spectacular. The whole movie falls short of what it is capable of, and leaves the viewer feeling quite disappointed.
This film shouldn't be on the top of your horror film list, there are better ones out there. If you really want to see this movie, prepare yourself for a big disappointment. The film isn't really horrible, just not what you'd expect from the last installment of the Halloween series.
