Tim: This is one of the greatest masterpieces of all time. Francis Ford Coppola is a genius for the creation of this film. This began the trilogy of Godfather films, setting up mafia moves for years to come. The Godfather is nothing less than an epic masterpiece that everyone must see.
Coppola put together one of the greatest casts in film history. Marlon Brando gives the performance of a lifetime as the patriarch of the Corleone family. His performance is unforgettable, and makes this film the success that it is. He is helped greatly by the supporting cast, but most especially by Pacino and Duvall. Al Pacino is absolutely unbelievable as Michael Corleone. Robert Duvall is perfect as the concierge of the family. These three actors bring the harsh life of the crime scene and the loyalty of family together.
Every American needs to see The Godfather, as its cultural and film importance is undeniable. This film gives viewers a look at the inside life of a mafia family, as realistically as possible. There isn't a great deal that can be said about this film, except that if you have not seen it, you are missing out on one of the greatest films ever made, and you need to see it. There are so many famous lines, like, "I'll make him an offer he can't refuse," "Leave the gun... take the canolli," and many more. The importance of this film cannot be overstated.
