Review:

Tim: Few would argue with the statement that this is one of the best Civil War movies ever made. It tells a powerful story of an all balack regiment, and the courage they showed. Everything about this movie is brilliant, from the writing, directing, and especially the action. It almost sweeps you back to one of the darkest times in American history.

Denzel Washington gives an unbelievable performance, one of pain, hatred, yet also of strength and courage. He surely deserves the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress that he received for this role. In addition, Matthew Broderick gives a very courageous performance, unlike many of his others.

Finally, I have to recommend this film highly, because of so many reasons. It is also one of the few films that shows the struggle of African-Americans during the middle 1800s. If you haven't seen this film yet, do so immediately.
