Norton's Memorable Hour

One of the most under-appreciated movies of 2002, Spike Lee's 25th Hour showcases Edward Norton as drug dealer Monty, who we see on his last day before he's sent to jail for seven years. As a kind of post-9/11 tribute, this movie looks at all the different kinds of New Yorkers, and one of Norton's friends, played by Barry Pepper, lives right next door to the fallen towers. Rosario Dawson (Monty's girlfriend), Brian Cox (father), Philip Seymour Hoffman (friend) and Anna Paquin (one of Hoffman's students) round out the terrific cast. The movie was intriguing and graphic, without being over-the-top. 25th Hour is a movie that's hard to classify, but it is one that definitely should be seen.
