(from the Medieval, Tudor and Elizabethian times) These chains were awarded to prominent members of the sovereign's noble court for various royal offices. The chain was presented and later worn while having these special royal duties as Chains of Office. |

This center hanging medalion is a three dimensional figure of Saint George on horseback fighting the mythical dragon. Saint George is the patron saint of this order of English knighthood.
