~*~ The Man in the Iron Mask ~*~

Aramis: Some of this is legend, but at least this much is fact. When Rioting citizens of France destroyed the Bastille, they discovered in it's records this mysterious entry: Prisoner #64389000 - the Man in the Iron Mask.

King Louis XIV: Who is that?
Franciouse: Raoul, the son of Athos.
King Louis XIV: Franciouse, your tastes may run to young soldiers, but I was referring to the beauty next to him.

King Louis XIV: Chrstine, isn't it? I would have thought it was possible, but I do believe the excitement of this whole chase has made you even more beautiful.
Christine: Sire, I... Thank you... I -
King Louis XIV: You blush. You do not wish to look beautiful for your king?
Christine: No, sire. I mean, yes. Yes, of course, sire. I mean, that you are...
King Louis XIV: It's all right. I understand that you're not accustomed to these surroundings, but that is a condition we can happily remedy. One such as you would fit nicely as a lady in waiting.
Christine: His majesty is... is very, very kind, but I am engaged to Raoul... or will be when he manages to ask me.
King Louis XIV: You would choose a soldier. A soldier who has not yet proposed above a King?
Christine: I could only be faithful to my heart.
King Louis XIV: But how faithful is that heart to you?

Girl: You were right. A woman has never known love, until she has known the love of a King.
King Louis XIV: I'm hungry. *gets up and puts on his robe*
Girl: I'll have some food brought?
King Louis XIV: No, I like to eat alone. By the way, you'll be leaving tomorrow.

King Louis XIV: I'm a young King, but I am King.
D'Artagnan: Then be a good King.

King Louis XIV: I was told this impostor was dead.
D'Artagnan: You knew? You knew there was a man of such resemblance?
King Louis XIV: He is my brother.
D'Artagnan: Brother?
King Louis XIV: My twin, my blood, the fact which has kept him alive until now.
Queen Anne: *runs in* Louis, please.
King Louis XIV: *pushes his mother* You were a part of this, too, mother?
Queen Anne: He is your brother. I love you both.
King Louis XIV: And your love has meant nothing to either of us!
Phillipe: It has meant something to me. *Louis hits Phillipe*

D'Artagnan: Anne, I know that to love you is a treason against France, but not to love you is a treason against my heart.
Queen Anne: Then we will both die treacherous, D'Artagnan.

Phillipe: I've been in prison for six years. You have freed me, but now you're asking me to enter another prison.
Porthos: The palace is hardly a prison.
Phillipe: See those farm maids working there? See the one holding the lamb? I would tend lambs with her for the rest of my life.
Aramis: We're offering you a chance to be king.
Phillipe: No, you're offering me a chance to pretend to be king. A king that you hate.
Athos: Not everyone hates him.
Phillipe: Don't you? Why should I become him? Until you give a reason I won't do it. I cannot.

King Louis XIV: Do not under estimate the Dutch.

King Louis XIV: Riots, but Paris is the most beautiful city in the world. Why should my people feel anything, but pride and contentment?

D'Artagnan: A fool's blade is sharper than his brain.

Raoul: I will never be a rich man, but you'll aways have my heart.
Christine: Than I am richer than the king.

Aramis: Porthos, I grow tired of this act. You're surrounded by beauty, by intrique, by danger. What more does a man want? Look around you. Robins are singnig, the pigeons are cooing. Can't you listen to their songs.

Aramis: Suddenly the King discovered he had two halves. He had seen enough kingdoms torn apart by feuding brothers, so he decided for the sake of peace, for one of them to disappear. You Phillippe. He ordered your true identity kept from you. On his deathbed he reveled your exsistence to Louis and your mother. She was told by her own priest that you have died at birth. She blamed herself for ever believing it and she wished to restore your birthright. Now Louis was Ling, he was afraid to kill you, for his whole claim of power rested on the sanity of blood. So instead he devised away to keep you hidden. For my country, for my King, I brought piece with your life and my soul. One day I would ask for your forgiveness not till I have restored you for what is yours.

D'Artagnan: No, no. If anyone sees.
Anne: If I don't kiss you, I'll die anyway.

Athos: What was that?
Aramis: It's all right. I sawed the beam. *barn falls down* I'm a genius, not an engineer.

Athos: And you think that's my reason for being here? Yes, Raoul is my reason, but not in the way you think. Once I, once all of us, believed in spending our lives in the service of something greater than ourselves. Aramis had his faith, Porthos his lust for life, D'Artagnan his devotion, and I had Raoul. But we all had a common dream that one day we would finally be able to serve a King worthy of the thrown. It was what we dreamt, what we bleed for, and what we've spent a lifetime waiting to see. I taught Raoul to believe in that dream, now my son is dead. So I am here to find out if his life was in vain and the only one that can answer that question is you.

My darling Christine, from departing from you I have left heaven for hell. I go cause I can love you only and honor. You've created in me a better man. I will love you through heaven or hell, if that is where I must go. To love you the way you should be loved. Remember that and give yourself no blame. Yours forever, Raoul.

Louis: What's wrong? What's the matter? What's wrong?
Christine: I received a letter from Raoul. He sent it to the Palace knowing that he would die and that I would be here. How would he know that?
Louis: I can't guess what he was thinking. He was irrational. I ordered him placed far away from the fighting, but he plunged in against my wishes.
Christine: He forgives me for all that he knew I would do, but can I forgive myself?
Louis: Forgive?
Christine: I love him Louis. I love him still.
Louis: Still?
Christine: And to pretend to love you, I would do something awful.
Louis: You pretend?
Christine: I have sinned against love and God for the sake of your mercy. Which you would have not given without my sin. I burn in hell, so will you.
Louis: No, no, no, no my love. You will burn in hell, I will not for I AM KING ORDAINED MY GOD.

Porthos: I love Paris, I love life, and I love you ladies.

Aramis: Nobility is born in the heart.

Aramis to Louis: It's judgement day.

Athos: *quietly to himself, while watching Phillipe head to the ball* You have the heart of a King.

Phillippe to Christine: However, I wronged you. I will make amends.

D'Artagnan: Your majesty, listen to me. Listen to me! Never once have I asked anything of myself. I ask you now, spare the life of this man, this prisoner, your brother.
Louis: YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO ASK ME THIS!
D'Artagnan: Your majesty, everyday of your life I have watched over you. I have bleed for you. I have prayed everyday to see you become greater than your others. Better than the law. Please show me what my faith and blood has purchased. Show mercy.
Louis: And you take the sides of traitors of this one, worst of all, my own brother who's trying to do this to me!!
D'Artagnan: What have you done to him? For one moment I thought you had become the King I always hoped you'd be.
Phillippe: Please, may I speak. I beg that you kill me. I release you from any sin in taking my life. In fact, I pray to God to reward you for your mercy to do it, but please do not, I beg you, return me to the prison I have lived for so long.
Louis: D'Artagnan you will hunt down Porthos, Athos, Aramis, and bring me their heads or I will have yours. And as for you my brother, back to the prison you shall go and into the mask you hate.
Anne: Louis don't...
Louis: WEAR IT TIL YOU LOVE IT... and die in it!

D'Artagnan: Phillippe has been moved to the lower dungeon of the Bastille. At midnight tonight I will order the guards and delay the replacements for ten minutes. One for all, all for one. D'Artagnan.

Phillippe: I waer the mask, it does not wear me.

D'Artagnan: This is the death I've always wanted.
