You see, the S.M.A.R.T. stands for Samaritan Movers and Rapid Transport.
We will be teaching first hand the "Good Samaritan" ways to help others carry their burdens in this life. "Life is a wheel" is another teaching tool we will use, to show others that good efforts and good "work" bring good things in return. The new effort will benefit not only the students involved but some of the revenue above and beyond operation expenses will be used to advance the J.C.'s Lighthouse for Children mission work and facilities building projects in the Costal Bend Area.
Now, to their benefit, there's a new sunrise in the Coastal Bend area for J.C.'s Lighthouse and the Work Light Program. Traditionally work opportunities through the Work Light Program would be in the ventures of other business owners.
The financial gains from the student's labors usually go to the business. This would often times be a bargaining chip for the placement of the program in the first place. We could offer a business the advantage of free advertising support, inexpensive labor cost, and quality service in exchange for allowing us the opportunity to use their business as a training area to address some 60% of the youth aging out of the foster system with no useable education. They have enjoyed a limited number of these opportunities because of the issues that such a partnership can impose. Even then the training is sometimes limited and at times ends up more of an advantage to the business than to the children.
It has been stated for awhile that Work Light needed some new job training opportunities for those with after care service needs as they age out of the foster system served by J.C.'s Lighthouse. Now Work Light is in a prime position to put the "aged-out" and at-risk students and young parents in an awesome job-training position. The students will have the opportunity to learn many aspects of the truck driving, delivery and moving industry. Already, others with truck driving, delivery, and repair experiences have come forward to offer to assist and train students in this field including some ex-students returning from the war in Iraq. The new effort will benefit not only the students involved but some of the revenue above and beyond operation expenses will be used to advance the J.C.'s Lighthouse mission work and facilities building projects in the Costal Bend Area.
