At any rate; this is an expression of how I feel sometimes, living in a society where the only motivation seems to be 'get-a-job-start-a-family-make-a-career-retire':
"Why should I strive for such things? I could be dead tomorrow - so pursuing them in the hope of a future (and very temporary) reward is pointless. Isn't there something more substantial, lasting and worthwhile to spend my life on?"
