Just what is a sim/cyber farm?

Good question. It's a wonderous thing. :)

First off, everything is all fake and only exists in the made up computer world that's been created by all the participants. This world has been around for years.

While everyone has their own opinions on what words mean, this is what I generally have found the words 'sim' and 'cyber' to mean.

A sim farm is like a business that raises and shows animals as close to reality as possible (or as they care to). They make up or use real life pedigrees, pictures, and other stats for their animals and create a special web page for them. The most common animal raised in this way are sim horses.

A cyber farm is more like a pet owner's site. Cyber animals are sometimes referred to as web pets or site mascots. A cyber farm can raise a variety animals to adopt out to sites, sometimes showing them but usually the emphasis is on proper care in a pet sense. They usually draw their own pictures or find someone else to draw them for these pets and often, if they have pedigrees, they eventually lead back to foundation/created stock and not real life animals. The most common animal raised like this are dogs, cats and birds. Also completely made up species can be found.

Both are really fun to be a part of, so much so I decided to combine my passions here at the Farmlands and try to participate in both aspects of this online world. :)
