You wander along the edge of a small pasture, glancing about the farm. Movement catches your eye. Dancing in a circle round the pen is a bright bay, flecks of white highlighting her coat. It takes you a moment longer to notice the young woman Restless standing in the middle, rope in hand, lunging the mare.
You watch her and the young horse, leaning against the fence. Restless continues trotting the animal for a minute before urging her into a canter. The filly snorts, tossing her head as she bounds forward in a spurt of youthful energy. A few more minutes of watching her gait and the woman stops the horse, placing her feet in a halter pose with the end of the whip. Smiling, she whispers softly, rubbing the horse's neck. She turns and waves at you, still smiling, before both head over.
"Hi there! Meet Life Of My Own, otherwise known as Mickey. She's a beauty, ain't she?" Restless says with a laugh, patting the snowflake. Meanwhile Mickey stretches out her dainty muzzle, sniffing at your arm with her wide nostrils as though in greeting.
"She's our attempt to intergrate Friesian bloodlines into our Leopard Drafts. She's not been a bad result, a bit light in her head and feet. But her body structure, color and courage - Perfect, wouldn't you say? Best jumping draft cross I've ever seen." Restless muses softly, eyes sparkling as she watches the filly dip its head to graze peacefully. "Hopefully she'll get a few more inches on her before long. Then we can start sowing her show record to see what the judges think.
"Well, best be putting this girl up. I'll met you back at the farmhouse." Restless nods in farewell, flicking the rope to gain Life Of My Own's attention before leading the way to the barn.
