Site Under New Management- mourneviewblues.tk has been taken over- no, not by aliens. Or by a Russian Sugardaddy. It's new owner is Michael Scott, known to many as Bobby (Bluebob on ILF) or that jammy bastard who scored against Portadown after falling on his arse. Changes to the site will be made soon, but don't expect anything drastic, and it will continue to serve the Glenavon nation as well as it did under Ian. It will be updated regulary and will provide you with all the latest news, reviews, reports and rumours that are flying around the place we call home (Mourneview Park, if you couldn't have guessed). You can contact me with any ideas or anything like that at [email protected], so keep on flying the blue flag!
Fans in Win Over Portadown- There was a suprise at Brownlow on Friday night as Glenavon overcame rivals Portadown in a fans 8-a-side game. The Lurgan men came looking for revenge after their pre-season defeat at Mourneview, but thanks to an own goal by Stan Smith and the jinxed Andy Wightman (read below for more) the Blues came away with the victory. The Ports had taken the lead after 28 minutes, but a brave Glenavon performance saw captain Ian Wilson lift the Gold Yorkie Bar Trophy. More>>>
Glenavon 4-0 Crusaders- To round off the perfect weekend for Glenavon fans, the Blues beat Crusaders by four goals to nowt to pick up their first win of the season. A cracker from Aiden McVeigh, new signing Pat Quinn, a Dean Smith header from close range and another cracker from youngster Timmy "TIIIIIMMMMMEEEEEEHHHH" Graham gave Glenavon the three points and left old boy Alan Dornan considering his position as the Crues' boss. Glenavon fan Skin said that the victory was due to a lack of an Andy Wightman to jinx us. Click here for more
Glenavon release players- Glenavon have released Mark Hamilton and Philip Rogan from their contracts, as they were piss.
Glenavon sign new midfielder- Glenavon have signed former Livingston player Pat Quinn on a free transfer up until Christmas. At first viewing, he looked rather poor, but on Saturday against Crusaders he ran the show in he middle of the park, scoring his first goal for the club. In an interview for glenavonfc.com, Pat said he has found the league a challenge but has not been left disappointed by the standard of football in the IL. He also hope that Glenavon can build on Saturday's performance and get a further 3 points against Linfield. IMO, he was the man of the match along with Shane McCabe. A vast improvement has been made since the Newry game not only by Pat, but by the whole team, and congratulations must go to Alfie and the lads for such a great performance.
Glenavon rocked by new scandal- Glenavon have been hit by the IFL after it was discovered that Philip Rogan was suspended when he came on as a second half sub against Portadown in the CIS Cup game at Mourneview. Manager Alfie Wylie denies knoweldge of this cock up, but it looks as though we're going to be hit with a 1000 pound fine and Rogan with a 10 game suspension, which shouldn't be too bad as he doesn't really play, cos he's shite.

Team From England To Officially open Floodlights- Little known Manchester United from a country called England are to help Glenavon officially open the "new" floodlighting system ("new" because it's been up for about two years). Vice Chairman Eddie Drury, who apparently supports this unknown side, said he would like to thank Mr David Trimble, Former First Minister, MP, MLA, UUP for his role in setting up the fixture (and we all thought that he was spending all that time in London trying to bring peace to the country, what will Daphne say?) and that the local Manchester United supporters will come out and support local football (i.e. come and fill our ground so we can have your money) The game is at Mourneview (funnly enough, seeing as their our floodlights) on Thursday, 6th November with a 7.30 kick off. They are only bringing over a reserve side, as they are playing another little known side, Glasgow Rangers, in the UEFA Champions League, on the Tuesday night before hand, but look out for Chris Eagles, he's a blinding young player. You never know, Roy Carroll (N.I. International goalie sometimes) or Fabien Barthez (French pre-madonna) might be playing. Entrence is 10, and 5 for concessions.
