| Matthew J. Haag Aviation Biography: Matt is a 3rd-generation pilot with many years of practical backcountry and mountain flying experience even prior to earning his private pilot certificate in 1996. His mom, dad, brother, and both grandfathers are/were all pilots in the general aviation arena. Even his new sister-in-law is a student pilot. Its in the blood! Matt worked at Double Eagle Aviation in Tucson, AZ as a CFI as well as a FAR 135 charter pilot in PA34, Ce414A and Ce421C aircraft. He is currently employed at SkyWest Airlines flying the EMB120 Brasilia as a Check Airman. Matt and Holly own a 1952 Cessna 170B with the 220 horsepower Franklin engine conversion. This has been the platform for their most recent back country experience in Utah, Colorado, and Idaho. Matt and Holly both spent 2 weeks in early 2002 on the south island of New Zealand getting a taste of NZ mountain and backcountry flying. Immersion in a completely unfamiliar and extremely rugged territory with constantly changing weather brings a whole new outlook on and respect for back country flying. |
