Meet The Guys

James was born in Philadelphia in 1981, and moved to Utah in 1993. He has mountaineered in Utah, Wyoming, California, Colorado, and Iceland. James has been a U.S. Navy Corpsman since September, 1999. He currently lives in Keflav�k, Iceland, and plans on living there until at least 2007.

Chris was born in Utah in 1981, and has lived there since then. He has mountaineered in Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, and California. Chris graduated from Utah Valley State College, in their wilderness fire-fighting program. He is now looking at the School of Nursing at the University of Utah, and a career in nursing. Chris has also worked at a scout camp in Colorado for a few summers, where he was the head rock climbing instructor. Chris and his father, Don, are both very involved in canoeing, and have enjoyed a few trips to the Boundary Waters canoe area in Minnesota/Canada.

Duane was born in Minnesota in 1980, and has lived in Utah, California, Arizona, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, and Washington. He has mountaineered in Utah, Colorado, and Washington. Duane is a U.S. Army Airborne Ranger, and is currently in Special Forces school. Duane has married his long-time girlfriend, and will be headed to Iraq soon.

Jon was born in Salt Lake City in 1982, and lived there until he began school in California in 2000. He has mountaineered in Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, and California. Jon is currently at art school in San Francisco, and hopes to be a professional artist. Jon has also developed a high level of interest in biking, and has pursued the sport while in California.

Keith was born in Salt Lake City in 1982, and lived there until he began school in California in 2000. He has mountaineered in Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, and California. Keith is currently a student at Harvey-Mudd College in Clairmont, CA. He works summers in Los Angeles, just minutes away from where James used to live in the Los Angeles area. After college, Keith hopes to become an engineer.

Dan was born in Colorado in 1982, and moved to Utah when he was very young. He has mountaineered in Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado. Dan is currently attending the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He will be comissioned as a Navy Line Officer in June, 2005. Dan also plays for the Academy lacrosse team.

Matt was born in 1984 in Colorado. He moved to Utah when he was very young. He has mountaineered in Utah and Colorado. Matt is currently attending the Merchant Marine Academy, and will earn his comission in June, 2007. Matt had previously attended Westminister College in Utah on a soccer scholarship. Matt was considered one of Utah's top high school and college soccer players. He is now attending the Merchant Marine Academy.

Don T was born in Plover, Wisconsin in 1956, and moved to Utah. He has mountaineered in the Wasatch Mountains, Wind River Range, Front Range, and Tetons. Don is an ER nurse, as well as the owner of a lawn care business. He hopes to remain in Utah and the mountains forever. Don is married to Janet, and has 2 kids, Chris, and Alisha. Alisha just recently married her fiance, Devon, and they moved into a new house in Draper, UT. Don and his son, Chris, are both very involved in canoeing, and have enjoyed a few trips to the Boundary Waters canoe area in Minnesota/Canada.

Don moved to Utah to be a ski bum, where he met his wife, Shirley. He has mountaineered in Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado. Don works for a medical supply company in Salt Lake, and has 2 kids, Keith and Sarah. Don still enjoys skiing, and gets up to the resorts every chance he gets in winter.

Andrew was born in Goa, India in 1980. He moved to Utah right after that, and has lived there since. Andrew has mountaineered in the Wasatch Mountains, Deep Creek Mountains, Teton Mountains, and Front Range. He currently attends the University of Utah, and hopes to be an emergency medical teacher after college.

Richard was born in Utah in 1983, an has lived there since. He has mountaineered in Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming. Richard still lives in Salt Lake City, and has involved in the independent film industry there.

Garth is the newest guy in our group, and he went on the Winds '99 Trip as our photographer. Garth was born in Oklahoma, but now lives in Wyoming. Garth enjoys telemark skiing, like Jon and Chris. He also runs his own photography business out of Jackson. Garth is a good backpacker and climber, and kept up with us in the Winds. We hope to hook up with him in the future, to climb again.

Dave was born in Germany in February 1980. He is currently attending the University Of North Carolina, and majoring in Computer Science. Dave did some climbing with the group in 1997 and 1998, and returned to Utah for the summer of 1999 and 2000. Dave enjoys computers, and just hanging out. He now lives in Utah again and is trying to get into MIT for a post-graduate degree.

Greg doesn't do much climbing, but is part of the group, and is a really cool guy. He was born in Utah in 1982. He has done a little climbing with the group, mostly at the rock gym. Greg currently attend college just north of Los Angeles, CA.

Greg is the ultimate backpacker of the group. He has mountaineered in the Wasatch Mountains, Rockies of Montana, and Deep Creek Mountains. He is married and has 2 kids, Corey and Heather.

Alan is a cool guy who accompanied us on 2 of our Winds trips, and some climbs in the Wasatch. He is a long-time friend of Don T's, and along with Don T, planned the Winds 96 and 97 trips. He was also able to come along on the Sierra Trip in 2001. Alan manages the Hellgate Condos in the town of Alta, and is the luckiest of us because he lives in Alta.

Kevin was born in St. Louis, in 1948, and moved to Utah in 1985. He has come on a few hikes over the last 2 summers. Kevin is also Dan and Matt's dad, and is married to Lisa.

Ryan was born in Kansas City in 1981. He moved to Utah in 1995. He doesn't do much climbing, but he is the ultimate Nintendo challenger. Ryan currently attends the University Of Utah.

Isaac was born in North Dakota in 1982. He moved here 5 years ago, and became active in the group. He did alot of climbing in 1997, and attended the Winds 97 trip.

Corey is a senior at Brighton High, and plans on attending the University of Utah after he graduates. He has mountaineered in the Wasatch Mountains, and Front Range.

Brian was born in Chicago in 1981. He moved here a few years ago, and became active in the group. He didn't do much climbing, but hung out with us alot. Brian played basketball for Alta, but graduated in June of 1999, and moved onto college in Indiana.

Brian is Isaac's dad, as well as a good climber. When Isaac moved on, Brian also stopped coming. Brian attended the Winds 97 trip, but hurt himself, and had to return home early. He was a real cool guy, who did climbing and backpacking.

Chris moved to North Carolina before the group got into much serious climbing. Chris is a good artist. He visited us in Utah this summer, and this picture is him hiking with James in June of 1999, near Mount Raymond. He is currently an English teacher in Japan.
