I am the Kaleidoscope of the mind.
I impart light, color and perpetual motion.
I think, I see, I am moved by electric fluidity.
Constant only in my inconstancy.
I am unshackled by mundane holds,
Unchecked by sturdy, binding goals.
I run unimpeded through virgin paths.
My spirit unconquered --
My soul forever free.

I am the Horse
.

Horses are born under the twin sign of elegance an ardour. Horses share two salient characteristics, practicality and independence. Horses come in so many shapes and sizes, these traits express themselves through many different channels. After all, a Shetland pony is not asked to perform the same tasks as a highly strung show jumper. As a result, Horses will be found doing any number of jobs, which they will tackle with the emphasis on hard work and efficiency.

A strongly masculine sign, Horses of both sexes have an easy going personality, which they exploit to good advantage. Horse women tend to be witty and sociable and what they just might lack in obvious good looks will always be made up for twice over by sheer style. Horses, remember, have elegance as one of their twin signs. Male Horses, with their natural sense of ease when addressing large groups and inner reserves of endurance, also usually mirror the female Horse's wit and clear head. Horses think quickly and logically. A Horse will never quote you a wrong statistic or hand you a woolly- minded opinion. Given a chance to lead, the Horse will jump at it.

Slow to anger, the Chinese Horoscopes point out that once a Horse is seen in rage, the experience is never forgotten. A Horses also becomes easily bored, and not only with people. A Horse quickly changes jobs and hobbies and tends not to plan long term. They might think they have found a job or partner for life, but in reality it will be just another passing phase. However, once "settled" in a family, the Horse will automatically become the key figure. But even then, they will probably invest more time in their work than their children.

As a rule, Horses are not possessive or jealous about those they love. They require freedom above all else, and usually acknowledge that their partners might require the same. Horses fall in love easily, and although they seldom get bitter or twisted should it not work out, they do become extremely weak once smitten. Love is not logical and the practical minded Horse never learns this simple fact. They think each new romance is the big one, forgetting they have thought this a hundred times before.
The three phases of the Horse's will be determined by their need of freedom. Young Horses tend to leave the stable early and the middle years will see many changes. It is also said that a Horse born in the summer has an easier life than the Horse born in the winter. However, old age is kinder to all Horses, with their need to be independent at all costs to find a more flexible level of expression.

A word about the Fire Horse. Occurring every sixty years, the Year of the Fire Horse has a powerful effect born under its sign. The Chinese believe that Fire Horses suffer great good fortune or sheer bad luck: some times they are dished out helpings of both. In short, nothing in a Fire Horse's life will ever be moderate.
