Final Exam Guidelines

 

A- Essay-like question (30 points)

Two of these five questions will appear in the exam. You will have to answer one of them in a 5 paged text, in double line spacing:

1.     Through the evolution of politics, religions and economy, explain how Alexander’s conquests and the founding of the Hellenistic kingdoms profoundly changed the Greek world.

2.     Explain what changes the rise of the Hellenistic kingdoms occasioned for the Greek cities’ societies.

3.     Analyze the reasons and the consequences of the Hellenizing policy of Alexander and his successors.

4.     Explain the origin, the development and the role of the ruler cult in the Hellenistic period.

5.     Explain the differences between the Antigonids and the Ptolemies.

 

B- Short answered questions (20 points)

The five questions of this section will be about these chapters:

Week 1 - Alexander's Legacy

Week 3 - Unity of Culture and Religious Developments

Week 5 – Ptolemaic Dynasty.

Week 7 - Hellenistic cities and Federal States

Week 8 - Social Organization in the Eastern Mediterranean
