X... Another CLAMP (also: Angelic Layer, Chobits, Magic Knight Rayearth, Card Captor Sakura, RG Veda, Clover, Wish, and CLAMP School Detectives) work. It's a little (okay, a lot) different from their other works, which mainly have a brighter and happier storyline. Nonetheless, the artwork and music is truly worthy of being a CLAMP creation.

Like I said... X is has a pretty dark and sad storyline. Shirou Kamui carries the weight of the Earth's future in his hands. Though his destiny is already chosen, he has two of them to choose from. One is to join the Ten no Ryu [Dragons of Heaven] to save the Earth from destruction. The other is to join the Chi no Ryu [Dragons of Earth] who aim to destroy the Earth. Kamui goes back to Tokyo after leaving it for 6 years. The promised day of 1999 nears as the other Ten no Ryu and Chi no Ryu gather in Tokyo as well.

When Kamui chooses to become either a Ten no Ryu or Chi no Ryu, another Kamui will be born from his good friend Monou Fuuma. Kamui and Fuuma are leaders of the two groups who will fight against each other to determine the Earth's fate. The Chi no Ryu believe that the Earth has been dirtied and corrupted by humans and that it is best that it is destroyed. Tokyo sits above seven Kekkai which hold the Earth together. The Chi no Ryu has the power to break these Kekkai and destroy the Earth. the Ten no Ryu have the power to cast Kekkai (they're different from the other kekkai) to prevent the Chi no Ryu from breaking their Kekkai. Ten no Ryu's kekkai seal the area where the kekkai break. Only members of the Ten no Ryu and Chi no Ryu can fight within the sealed space. To get out of the kekkai, the person who cast it has to be on the verge of death. If the person who cast the kekkai is injured, there is damage to the real world. But if he/she is not, then there is no damage.

Kamui has to choose whether tosave the Earth or destroy it. Hinoto, who is helping the Ten no Ryu, is a blind princess who sees the future in her dreams. Even though her dreams tell her that the Kamui of Chi no Ryu will win, she still holds hope that Kamui will lead the Ten no Ryu to victory. Which side will Kamui choose? And if he does become a Ten no Ryu, will he be able to change fate? X has an amazing ending with excruciating suspense until the end.
