It is After Colony year 195. Humans have ventured space and built colonies on which they can live. The United Earth Alliance, or the Federation, finds excuses to take military control of the Colonies and oppresses the people there. To instill fear into people's hearts, the Federation uses giant human-like robots produced by the Organization of the Zodiac, better known as OZ. Five scientists, each living on a colony in each of the five Lagrange Points, independently develop a superior mecha called Gundam, and trained a pilot to maneuver it. They send these five boys, Heero Yuy, Duo Maxwell, Trowa Barton, Quatre Raberba Winner, and Chang Wufei, to Earth on the 20th anniversary of the assassination of Heero Yuy, a former Colony leader. These pilots' object is to destroy OZ.

They meet their enemy, who gets stronger with each attack. OZ's leader, Treize Khushrenada, cunningly sets traps for the Gundam pilots to fall into. Soon, the Gundam pilots find themselves without support from their home, the colonies, and thus, powerless. OZ's, and the secret aristocratic organization, the Romefeller, that controls it, domination has penetrated to space after the staged coup d'etat against the Federation. It seems as if OZ will prevail, given that it controls both the Earth and Space. Unexpectedly, Treize steps down from his coveted position. And without a clear enemy, two of the Gundam pilots, Heero and Quatre, fight for the Sanq Kingdom, headed by Relena Peacecraft and protected by Lucrezia Noin.

When the Romefeller attacks Sanq Kingdom, which upholds the Absolute Pacifism ideal of Relena Peacecraft, the two Gundam pilots are also caught in the battle. However, Relena surrenders to the Romefeller and later agrreed to be representative of the people on Earth as Queen Relena. Fierce fighting in space begins again as all five Gundam pilots are gathered together in one ship, the Peacemillion. A colony revolutionary group, White Fang, defeats OZ's space forces and takes control of spaceship Libra. Their leader is none other than Relena's brother, Zechs, former OZ soldier and ambassador from Sanq Kingdom. What could be his reason to oppose Relena, who has seemingly persuaded the Romefeller to her views of coexistence of Earth and Space? Who will the Gundam pilots fight for, Earth or the White Fang? The exhilirating conclusion of Gundam Wing is just as exciting as the events leading up to it!

With episode 49, Gundam Wing ends. But is it really the end?? After a peaceful year, revolutionaries in colonies in Lagrange Point 3 are stirring up. Without their Gundams, how will the pilots save the day? And Wufei, who betrayed the others by joining forces with the rebels, will Heero be able to convince him otherwise? The three-part OVA series, Endless Waltz, heats up the plot!
