Walking the Blues
This is a simple little blues line/melody similar to the walking bass line. Consider this a guide or map. Be sure to stop and "see the sights" along the way! Once you've got the feel of it, you can diverge from the map in many ways. Try a phrase from draw 2 to draw 3, draw 4 and then reverse back to draw 2. Another option would be to intermingle chords with the melody line. As when I first heard it, still now, I love the draw 3, (A), lead in on the 9th measure.
-2 -3 -4 5 -5 5 -4 -3 (x4)
4 5 6 -6 7 -6 6 5 (x2)
(line 1 x2)
--3 -3 4 --4 -4 5 -5 6
-2 -3 -4 5 -5 5 -4 -3
chord (-1 -2 -3 )
*Notes with (-) are draw notes. A (--) means a bent draw note
Have fun with this. Its variations can go a long way.
Keep on Harpin’
