Three maverick gunslingers in the middle of a desert in Arizona. Well, yeah, maverick gunslingers, but in a quarry in Barnet. Who gives a flying fuck anyways, it's the effect they were after, and it worked.

The lyrical Motorhead genius had shifted his sights more firmly into what was going on around him on the road for this classic album. (We Are) The Road Crew; tears were seen when lone-time Motorhead roadie, Johnnie Allen, heard this. There had never been a song written about a road crew before and it does capture the renegade lifestyle perfectly. Then there are those glorious Lemmy groin anthems Love Me Like A Reptile, Fast and Loose, The Chase Is Better Than The Catch, (or as he introduced it in concert on more than one occassion, 'The Face Is Better Than The Snatch'), and the outrageous honesty of Jailbait. Magnificent!

And how can we forget the title track? Chosen by the legions as the song Motorhead would always be remembered by... maybe for the "I don't want to live forever" line. Cos at a Motorhead gig, that's how you feel, you want to end it right there while you are in heaven.
