Maintenance: repainting the moped

If the frame of the moped is very rusty, it is very advisable to repaint the frame. You have two choices for this job: or you pay someone to do it (a professional) or you do it yourself and save a lot of money.
I have chosen the latter and I must say that my moped looks very well.
Rule number one is the preparation of the frame. The more time you spend on preparing the frame, the better the result will be.
The first thing is to remove all parts from the frame. Once you've done that, clean the frame with a high pressure cleaner so most of the dirt is removed.
Then start removing the rust. A few scratches can't hurt, besides, your frame is already damaged by the rust. Most of the scratches will be covered by the paint.
For the best result, you also should remove the old paint, but it is a hard work.
If you've removed all rust, clean the frame again with a high pressure cleaner and degrease the frame afterwards.
Now it's time to start the painting, place the frame in an area with as less as possible dust and for easy working, tie some ropes on the frame and attach them on the ceiling, so the frame is in the air.
It is preferable to use a spray can, it gives better results then working with a brush.
Start applying a primer on the frame, a kind that is resistant to rust. Apply minimum two layers. If the primer is dry, spray the final layers on the frame, also minimum two layers; the best thing is to apply 3 layers of each paint, because paint never covers a surface 100%.
