What is NOS?

What is NOS?NOS is Nitrus Oxide, which can be found in liquid or gas forms and is sometimes refered to as laughing gas. It used to be used by dentists as a general anesthetic, but is now most regularly found as a propellant in such things as spray cream.
How does NOS help an engine get more power? The NOS gas breakes down into two main elements inside the engine ... they are Nitrogen, and very importantly Oxygen. The effect is that with more Oxygen to help combustion of the fuel, you get more power. The effect is like adding Turbos to your engine, with the big difference that the effects are instant.
How do you fit it to an engine? You have to firstly fit a separate fuel tank to hold the Nitrus Oxide (usually in liquid form). Then you have to fit the unit to feed the NOS into the existing fuel system with the amount of power varied by the size of the nozzle. This gives a basic IN/OUT type of system.
How does it know when to use the NOS? There are two switches in series on the system. The first is the arming switch, which acts as your main control to enable the NOS. The second is attached to the Accelerator and activates the NOS kit when full throttle is applied. The moment you back your foot off from the peddle, the NOS stops.
How can you control the extra power? The Jaguar has been fitted with a Progressive unit, which pulses the solenoid switch in the NOS kit to vary the amount of power supplied (based on the RPM of the engine), thus enabling a smooth increase of power. The unit can be tuned, to adjust the extra power fed in at different RPMs.
Is it dangerous having this high powerd stuff stored in the car? No ... NOS does not ignite, and has actually been used by the designer of my system to put out a fire in an emergency before.
How long does it last? The Jag has a 10lb bottle installed, which will last for about 2.5 minutes at full throttle.
