Porsche Boxster

Due to appear in American showrooms January of 1997, Zuffenhausen has once
again produced a less-expensive model, the Porsche Boxster is a combination
of the classic. The avant-garde shape of the Boxster is a mix of the 550,
RSK and 718 Spyders of the 1950s. The headlights of the Boxster blend into
the fender. Behind each door, and below the headlights are air ducts that
direct air to the engine compartment and induction system. Rear fenders are
set off by a unique spoiler that rises from the trailing edge of the trunk at
speeds above 30 mph. Porsche's first production, water-cooled flat-6 nestles
behind the cockpit. Cast in aluminum, the 201-bhp 2.5-liter DOHC 24-valve boxer
with Varioram induction system features monoblock cylinders and heads. The
five speed manual has a base price of about $40,000 (US), the cheapest Porsche
ever. Not exactly the fastest Porsche ever, but one with a good price.
