Ferrari 456 GT

A gift to all mere mortals is the Ferrari 456 GT. Generally, one of the few
downsides to owning a Ferrari is that the greatest number of people you can
share the thrill of driving it with is just one lucky passenger. However, with
the 456 GT you can give two other passengers the thrill if their lifetime. A
year to remember. The 1997 edition of the 456 GTA (not only GT now), will come
with an optional automatic transmission for those who cannot handle the gear
box manually. Like the new 550 Maranello, the 456 GT is a retro styled, front
mounted, rear drive engine. Ferrari's 456 GT is not to be confused with the
family wagon. With 435 bhp, and a classic Italian V-12, driver selectable
shock-absorber settings, superb steering, and excellent handling the 456 GT can
prance down any quiet back road as well as any true cavallino rampante. The
456 GTA is claimed to be 176 lb over the GT, probably because of the larger
brakes and calipers. Ferrari, however, says that the GTA is only 0.3 seconds
slower to 60 mph, which is about 5.0 seconds. The 456 GT is fast enought to
get to sixty in about 4.7 seconds. The rear-wheel driver 456 GT is powered by a
5.5 liter, 436-bhp DOHC 48 valve, V-12 engine. With a top speed of 175 mph,
the 456 is no ordinary car, with automatic transmission. The base price of the
456 GT is about $225,000 (US), while the GTA is about $230,000 (US).
