McLaren F1 Supercar

The McLaren F1 is the fastest production car on the face of the Earth, and one
of the most expensive cars, with a fat $815,000 sticker price. Developed by
McLaren LTD., a subsidiary of one of the world's leading Formula One teams, the
F1 has the highest power to weight ratio of any car available. Between 4000
and 7000 rpm the F1 gets 479 pound-feet of torque. Even at 1500 rpm, the F1
produces 280 pound-feet, which most cars will return at the redline.

At 7500 rpm, the F1's redline, this supercar will be traveling at speeds near
230 mph. The F1 blasts to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds, 0.4 sec. faster than the
Porsche 959, the previous production car record holder. This car will shoot to
100 mph in 6.3 seconds, the Ferrari F40 took 2 seconds longer. In 12.8 seconds,
the F1 will reach 150 mph, the time it takes the Porsche 911 reach 100 mph.
Zero to 200 mph will take the F1 a quick 28.0 seconds. This monster car will
do the standing quarter mile in a blazing 11.1 seconds, at 138 mph, a second
and 15 mph faster than any other supercar. In sixth gear the engine is turning
1000 rpm at 30 mph and will come up to 60 mph in 7.0 seconds. From 50 to 70
mph the F1 requires a mere 3.7 seconds. The Lamborghini Diablo needs 7.5
seconds.

The McLaren F1 is powered by a normally aspirated, 6.1 liter V-12, custom made
engine from BMW Motorsports. The F1 powerhouse breakes the magic 100 horse-
power per liter barrier. This supercar produces 618 hp at 7400 rpm. The F1
will idle at a smooth 900 rpm. Traveling at highway speed limits the McLaren
F1 will return 19.3 mpg. Race the car and the tank will burn fuel at 9 mpg.
There are three key factors that contribute to the superior handling of the F1.
The central driving position. The car's diminutive dimensions. And a unique
patented suspension system. For the happy price tag of the McLaren F1, two
other passengers can get the thrill of their life time.
