Cizeta Marauder V16T

Based in Modena, Cizeta is almost virtually non-existent. The company started
by Claudio Zampolli has made the Marauder V16T, a monster of a car. During the
mid 1980s, Cizeta commissioned Marcello Gandini (designer of a number of exotic
Lamborghinis), to make the car. He took two Ferrari V-8 units, and voile! the
Marauder V16T was born. The prototype first appeared at a Los Angeles show in
December of 1998. The Marauder styling was similar to that of the Diablo, but
the V16 shocked the world. The transversally mid-mounted engine is capable of
520 bhp at 7000 rpm and 540 pound-feet of torque at 4500 rpm. The Marauder is
fast enough to reach 60 mph in 3.1 seconds. Not very fast now, but back in the
day it was comparable. The first right-hand drive version of the Marauder made
its debut in March of 1991 at the Geneva International Motor Show. In a 1992
press release Zampolli announced that six Marauders were on the production line
and from 1993 on, Cizeta would deliver one a month. Well, that means that this
car is quite exotic, and with the company almost extinct, the Marauder could be
even more exotic. Despite the monstrous V16 and 520 horsepower, the Cizeta
Marauder is only a five speed manual. With a base price of $800,000, one that
is equivalent to the McLaren F1, but no where as fast. For the price you pay,
Cizeta has thrown in a leather interior, wood trimming, and analog displays.
With cars like the McLaren F1 and the Ferrari 550, the Cizeta Marauder doesn't
really give you the bang for the buck it should.
