Charles F. Wake, left, and Plain Dealer Auto Editor Christopher Jensen,
along with the 1899 Winton, were finally unleashed on Manhattan. Their
only question: "Has anyone seen St. Patrick's Cathedral or Rockefeller Center?"

** Thanks to Mr. Jensen for permission to reprint his coverage of Charlie Wake's historical run this year.
One has to apppreciate the effort put forth by many, but in particular the gargantuan one mustered by Charlie. Years of planning, organizing, driving the route ahead of time and, not least of all, preparing the Winton cars from the museum. It must be considered that automobiles which sit on display for years develop many aches and pains which will make themselves evident on a long run.
What a wonderful combination to have, a love for ancient automobiles and one's own family history. "Geneaology on wheels."
THANKS CHARLIE!

Many more should be thanked for this unique event such as Jim Winton, Cleveland's Crawford Museum, the Winton world Wide People and etc. Alas, there is not room for that!
Apologies for the poor quality of the photos, they looked great in the Plain Dealer but not the same, when scanned from the printed page. An effort is being made to improve this situation. **
