One of the easiest modifications is to add a K&N Air Filter. If used properly, it can give you up to 20 more horsepower. K&N Air Filters last for a long long time and they can also be reused. I really do not know how much they cost because they are always sold at different prices. I believe that you can buy them at car shops, K&N, and other places.

Installation is easy, all you do is take out the old air filter and pop this one in. I suggest that you keep the old air filter just in case you ever need it. Onceyou do this, you will probably notice more power. I have never tried this on my Jetta because I will be getting rid of it in late May to get a Wolfsburg Edition. On the Wolfsburg I will do all the modifications.
