In March of 1969, the Trans Am
was introduced. It was an option package (WS4) and was available on the
hardtop or convertible. The engine was the 400HO, and the three speed manual
was the tranny. This car started it all. It was a pure performance machine.
All of them were cameo white with two blue stripes down the hood, roof
and trunk lid (even on the spoiler). Trans Am callouts were under the Firebird
emblem on the front fenders, as well as a decal on the top of the rear
spoiler. The hood was the Ram-Air type, engine-air exhaust ducts were on
the front fenders behind the front wheels. This car was produced in very
limited numbers and would be a fantastic car to own today.
