| In the month of July I participated in the Balance Bar 24 hour Adventure. This race, held in Beaver Creek, consisted of over 100 miles of trekking, cycling, Kayaking, white water swimming and ropes courses. This was an adventure in physical ability as well as map plotting and teamwork. As a three person corporation team (number 33) we had to start and finish the race together as well as being at eachothers side every step of the way. The race started at 4:00 in the morning and we had to plot your maps the night before, needless to say we didn't get any sleep. I was on a team with two guys that I worked with, Keith Fisher and James Sugden. I am sorry to say that we did not get to complete the race due to my cycling accident. I flipped off the bike going !35 miles / hour downhill. After regaining consciousness I did not accept the ride down with the medics because we would be disqualified. Then we proceeded to the Kayaking and completed that as well. At the checkpoint our gear did not get there and while we were waiting the medics wanted to check mr shoulder. It was determined that I was not allowed to continue because of a mild concussion and what turned out to be a class two AC separation. Over all I had a lot of fun but too days after I returned to work I got laid off. Ironically I was supporting the company, got injured, and lost my job. | |||||||||||||
