Below are two examples of some of the projects that I have been working on in my 9th Grade Technology class. Also below is a CO2 dragster.

Chess Piece

This I made by melting iron and putting it in a rubber mold and then letting it cool. After it cooled of it was dipped in acid to make it a little darker and make the detail stand out better. After that was finished I glued a wooden base to the bottom and then a piece of felt on the bottom of that.

Mini Golf Hole

My partner and I made this out of tissue paper, cardboard, glue, and other objects. I glued the tissue paper to the top of the cardboard. I then made cardboard walls covered with yellow tissue paper. I made a bridge and the water out of poster board and then put little packer action figures on the green bottom.

CO2 Dragster

It is made out of bass wood and at the end is a whole for the CO2 cartridge. I went home and put tape on the sides so it would leave wood stripes and then painted it with blue car paint and then it was sprayed with a clear gloss.

Dart

My dart is made with an imported wood and with a kit. I used a wood lathe to make to wood piece round and then sanded it with 4 different grits of sandpaper. After sanding, I rubbed a coat of wax to make it shiny and smooth. Next I put the parts from the dart kit onto the wooden part. My dart should weigh about 12 grams.

Trebuchet

I made a trebuchet out of wooden rods and I used a big sledge hammer for the arm. My partner already had a metal frame and we used the wood to make the base more steady. We used hot glue to make the wooden arm for the cross support to stay on and then drilled a whole trough the hammer. We put the wooden arm through the hammer and tested it. It worked off and on.

Mousetrap Car

My mouse trap car started out as a car made put of legos but it didn't work very well. We had to use it for the speed race. We made a new kit one for the distance race. It worked really well. I think that we got it to go about 45 feet. The arm dropped and then it went unlike the others that the arm dropped as it went.
