Ricky Carmichael injured testing; out for entire '04 AMA Supercross Series

American Honda announced today that Ricky Carmichael, defending AMA 250 Supercross and AMA 250 Motocross Champion sustained a knee injury while pre-season testing for the 2004 season.

Carmichael was examined by his doctor earlier today with the results showing a torn ACL knee ligament. The injury will require surgery with an estimated recovery time of 4 months.

"Ricky and the team were prepared and looking forward to defending the Supercross title", said Honda Race Team Manager, Chuck Miller, "Now Ricky is anxious to get the surgery taken care of so he can start his training for the motocross series."

 

Supercross Fan Fest to take place at Bank One Ballpark during Phoenix Supercross race

Supercross Fan Fest, The Music and Motorcycle Festival, is a two-day street festival that will highlight the excitement and culture of supercross adjacent to Bank One Ballpark, near 4th Street and W. Jackson. This first-time event will bring the riders and fans together and give the fans an up-close look at the sport and superstars of supercross.

Supercross Fan Fest will feature live on-stage entertainment from national recording artists and other local musicians and bands.  Headlining the live music stage at the inaugural Supercross Fan Fest will be national recording artist COLD. Other national and local artists will be announced soon.  In addition to the live music, Supercross Fan Fest will feature special supercross team Q & A sessions, autograph opportunities, a manufacturer and vendor expo, interactive sponsor booths, an extreme mini-cycle exhibition, and food & beer gardens.  Supercross Fan Fest will also offer fans access to the new, larger supercross pit area and the Friday afternoon practice session inside Bank One Ballpark.

Festivities surrounding Supercross Fan Fest, The Music and Motorcycle Festival, will kick off with Friday practice (January 9) from 1pm until Midnight and on Saturday (January 10) from 11am until 6pm.  The night racing for the 2004 THQ World Supercross GP/ THQ AMA Supercross Series starts at 7:00pm on Saturday January 10 inside Bank One Ballpark.

Race Admission:  13 & up $6.00; 6-12 years $3.00; 5 & under Free

Race Entry Fees: Peewee $20.00; Amateur $25.00; Expert $30.00
