This is my Mother's mom and dad, Arnold and Anna Mae Toler.
This was taken at there small house at Toney Fork in september of 1963. My Pappy was a coal miner and Mammy stayed at home and raised all her kids and a few others. Pappy is the son of Wilson and Adora Toler. Mammy is the daughter to Red and Macy Colburn. Back then times were hard and everything was hand to mouth. It took all he made to raise his family but they never needed for anything. They have been married for over 65 years and have been in love everyday of it. Some of us could only be so lucky. When I got married the first thing mammy said I needed two rolling pins. I asked her why and she said one was to cook with and the other was to keep Michael in line with.Mammy makes some for the best homemade apple stack cakes. They are a taste sensation. Pappy has a long family history in the Baptist religion. His great grand father Riley Toler started the Toler Baptist Church of Toney Fork over a hundred years ago. They have decoration every second Sunday in June on the old family cemitery way to the head of the holler at Toney.
