"Focus at the Koseinenkin, 74" review by Keijiro Matsunaga

Focus at the Koseinenkin, 74This is an information about a new bootleg (2 CDs):
Title: "Focus at the Koseinenkin" Live in Tokyo, at Koseinenkin Hall, June 30, 1974 - Private master PM003/004

Disc 1:

  1. Opening
  2. Focus III
  3. Answers? Questions! Questions? Answers!
  4. Focus II
  5. Sylvia
  6. Harem Scarem
  7. House Of The King
  8. Birth
  9. Tommy

Disc 2:

  1. Hamburger Concerto
  2. Hocus Pocus
  3. Hamburger Concerto Jam
  4. No Hang Ups
  5. Hocus Pocus (Reprise)

I think the sound quality is the same level as the bootleg "ANONYMUS TWO" - Phillarmonic Hall, New York, March 23, 1973. The high tone is not clear, the audience's hand claps during "Hocus Pocus" might annoy you and the microphone caught some noises, but Focus mania may enjoy this live recording because of

1.They played lots of ad-lib, good interplays,
2.Jan played his guitar free and easy, especially "Sylvia",
3.Thijs sang vocals glamorously, especially "Hamburger Concert",
4.You can listen to rare live songs, Harem Scarem, Birth and No Hang UPS.

Keijiro Matsunaga.

More Comments:

I think it's a variation of another double bootleg "Focal Distance" as the tracks are almost the same except "Love Remembered".
