 general rules of phrase construction

Word order and sentence parts

In Nalheárlu the phrase is constructed quite simply, without any complicated rules of word order.

The subject, if expressed by a noun, precedes the verb. If the subject is grammatically expressed by a pronoun, it is in most cases omitted and used only to emphasize.

naláricku he says

ckarálho naláricku man says

All the possible objects are used in Relative case around the phrase. The time/place expressions are placed before the verb phrase, all the others are left at the end. There aren't any prepositions, only several conjunctions. The prepositional function is possessed by the so-called prepositional adverbs that are placed after time/place expressions. (e.g. in(to)a pot - bésa vla. Bés - pot; vla - in, into)

ckarálho báxicku ghlónrue máes man gives food to woman (man gives woman food)

kláenol vla ckarálho númlickuta domaipaláicku lála man goes into the forest to catch an animal (forest into man goes(hab.) hunts(perf.) animal(R))

 Compound phrases

There are only coordinating conjunctions in Nalheárlu and no subordinating. The depending clause is built with no conjunctions – if there are none between two clauses it means that the first is the main clause and the second is a depending one. The type of the depending clause is determined by the type of information that is there.

The coordinating conjunctions are the following:

dw and

hen but

fem because

fem-ren because of this / that’s why

rai though
