Grammar - Adjectives and adverbs

Adjective

The rules of using adjectives are the simplest.

They are placed before defined nouns. If the noun begins with a movable consonant, it becomes voiced.

gheáse big

itrécko small

vinrá [fin'ra] tree

gheáse-vinrà [ghe'ashre vin'ra] big tree

If there are several defining adjectives, they are placed one after another, consistent with the phonetic rules of movable/immovable consonants.

Adverb

The rules of using adverbs are the same: it is placed before the defined verb. If the verb begins with a movable consonant, it becomes voiced. The adverbs are the same as their common root adjectives.

uáne loud, loudly

sukáme [shru'game] always, ever

ki [ki] to do

sukáme-kìlhuta [shru'game'gihluta] we always do

Comparative and superlative

The comparative form of both adjectives and adverbs is formed with the particle -àn

uáne-àn louder

itrécko-àn smaller

The superlative form is built with -là

uáne-là the loudest

itrécko-là the smallest
