We visit a Weatherspoon pub

Could this be Moseley's next pub?

The Briar Rose on Bennett's Hill, Birmingham City Centre is the Weatherspoon Pub Company's latest edition to its pubstock. This same company want to open a new pub in Moseley at the fomer Gascoignes Furniture shop on St.Mary's Row. We visited this pub to see what Moseley could be in for.

The Briar Rose occupies a former building society building. Both the exterior and interior have been furnished in a neo-Art Deco style. Black-and-white stripped patterns are everywhere, from the seat covers to the front of the bar counter.

Cheapest pint of beer was 1.35 pounds, although the average price of a pint was in the 1.60 to 1.70pound range. The manager informed me that the 1pound a pint policy do not exist in this business region of Weatherspoons.

At the rear of the pub is the family section. No smoking and a childrens food menu.

Inconclusion, the pub came across as a very stylish, well run and a comfortable hostelry.
