The Briar
Rose on Bennett's Hill, Birmingham City Centre is the Weatherspoon
Pub Company's latest edition to its pubstock. This same company
want to open a new pub in Moseley at the fomer Gascoignes Furniture
shop on St.Mary's Row. We visited this pub to see what Moseley
could be in for.
The Briar
Rose occupies a former building society building. Both the exterior
and interior have been furnished in a neo-Art Deco style. Black-and-white
stripped patterns are everywhere, from the seat covers to the
front of the bar counter.
Cheapest pint
of beer was 1.35 pounds, although the average price of a pint
was in the 1.60 to 1.70pound range. The manager informed me that
the 1pound a pint policy do not exist in this business region
of Weatherspoons.
At the rear
of the pub is the family section. No smoking and a childrens food
menu.
Inconclusion,
the pub came across as a very stylish, well run and a comfortable
hostelry.
