WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS?
For the past ten years I have been working as a teacher and an aide at Deary School.  I've been involved in the Troy Nazarene Church and Youth Group, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, foster-parenting, and my kids' sports programs: baseball, football, wrestling, soccer, track, and basketball.  That doesn't leave a whole lot of time for myself, but I love spending my time with my kids and their activities.

BRIEFLY BRAG ABOUT YOUR KIDS:
Currently we have four children:  my 17-year-old step-son, Pat; my 14-year-old son, Andrew; my 6-year-old daughter, Michelle; and a 16-year-old foster-son, Bob.

The most rewarding aspect of my life since graduation has been sharing my life with my wonderful husband, Larry.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS?
After graduating from law school, I've been practicing law, most recently as my own boss in my own firm.  In addition to being an interesting and exciting profession, I saved tons of money in legal fees handling my own divorce.  I enjoy golfing, camping, watching our Seattle pro sports teams, the local music scene and spending lots of time with my son, Eric.

BRIEFLY BRAG ABOUT YOUR KIDS (NAMES AND AGES):
I have a terrific 7 year old son, Eric.  He's active in school and sports.  This year, he turned into the class clown and performer. At least he's graduating from "knock-knock" jokes to more sophisticated material.  He loves playing sports and Cub Scouts, and having me be his scout leader and  coaching his baseball team.  I finally broke down and bought him a dog, a wild beagle named Jessie.  They just adore each other.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS?
I’m a teacher!  After seven years of teaching in Boundary County, Idaho, my husband and I decided to rejoin the real world, and moved to Coeur d’Alene.  Tim (husband) opened an art gallery (he’s a potter) and I teach third grade.  When not in the classroom, I’m a Girl Scout leader, basket weaver (no jokes), beach bum.  I spend way too much time at our cabin at Priest Lake, and driving my kids all over town to their activities.

WHAT ONE THING WOULD YOU LIKE TO TELL YOUR CLASSMATES AFTER 20 YEARS?
Life is short; go to the beach!

BRIEFLY BRAG ABOUT YOUR KIDS (NAMES AND AGES):
Dylan is 12, a Boy Scout, nature boy, Mr. Science.
Kaitlin is 10, a Girl Scout, soccer player, talks a lot (where did she get that from??)

WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST REWARDING ASPECT OF YOUR LIFE SINCE GRADUATION FROM MHS?
Having kids, absolutely!  Whew, who knew it would be so great, so much work, so frustrating, so rewarding, so intense??  Raising them in North Idaho where we hike, swim, fish, kayak, camp, explore is incredible.  On a professional side, it would be being named Idaho Environmental Teacher of the Year.

NAME OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – Lena Whitmore

DURING YOUR HIGH SCHOOL YEARS WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE:
SONG - Anything by Styx, Journey, or Rush&>>
MOVIE – Rocky Horror Picture Show! (that got me in a lot of trouble)
TEACHER - Mr. Driscoll in sixth grade.  He𔃅s ttthe reason I became a teacher myself.  I think I teach a lot like him, very hands-on and full of energy (although I don’t have the big frizzy hair!).

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT - Getting in a terrible car wreck with Dick Sutton and totaling his silver Celica. Or was it taking that cute foreign exchange student from Brazil to Deb’s Night, only to find out that since he didn’t speak English, it wasn’t so fun (although he was sooo cute).  Maybe it was trick-or-treating in McCall on Halloween while coming home from  Cross-county State after watching Michelle, Mark and the others do so great.

MOST EMBARRASSING MOMENT – Okay, here goes:  Right before a basketball game at the Bear Den, I realized I forgot to take  my earrings out.  Of course, we always gave visiting team the girls’ locker room.  I went racing into the boys’ locker room to drop off my earrings.  I suddenly came to a dead stop as I realized that the entire boys wrestling team was in showering after practice!  I was SOOOOO embarrassed (and pretty grossed out, having never seen naked guys before and only having sisters). Now there’s an image that’s hard for a teenage girl to get out of her head!

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS?
Since I didn't attend our 10 year reunion, I'll go back a bit past the last 10 years. I went to school at the U of I and ended up teaching math at MHS. I was there from 1990-1999. I had a lot of fun teaching and also assisting Bob Weisel with the cross-country team for a number of years. I took a year off in 1997 and worked a variety of jobs, including Sea World in San Diego and an outdoor school program in Portland, OR. In 1998 I met my husband, Dave Roberts. In 1999 we moved to Vancouver, WA with his job. I decided that I wanted to challenge my brain and try something new, so I started attending school and have just received my masters in electrical engineering. Traveling is probably my favorite hobby. I have been very fortunate that I have been able to travel quite a bit, both when I was single and now with my husband. I tell everyone that when I win the        lottery I will travel the world! Until then, I also keep busy with jogging, reading, baking, gardening, and keeping in touch with friends and family.

WHAT ONE THING WOULD YOU LIKE TO TELL YOUR CLASSMATES AFTER 20 YEARS?
All I can think to say is to enjoy life. Tell those you love how you feel as often as possible and try not to stress too much. (I'm still working on the stress thing...)

WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST REWARDING ASPECT OF YOUR LIFE SINCE GRADUATION FROM MHS?
I think this has changed over the years, depending on where I was in my life. I was very proud to be a teacher, but now I'm proud of achieving my masters degree. Of course my relationship with my family and friends is what gives me the most joy.

(now Lisa Harrison)

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS?
After graduating from the University of Idaho in 1989 with a degree in microbiology, Lisa joined the Peace Corps and went to Mauritania, Africa. There she worked in a small Moorish village in the Sahara, helping to improve the lives of the villagers by building wells, gardening, and health education.  With the outbreak of the first Gulf War, Lisa was evacuated back to the US, where she joined the EPA as a microbiologist in Pensacola, Florida. There she learned to scuba dive as part of her project to study the health of the coral reef. In 1992 Lisa married Bern Harrison, an old college friend, and moved to his home state of Indiana.
Lisa’s experience with health education in Mauritania prompted her to go back to school to get a nursing degree, and she became an RN in 2000. She immediately entered the Family Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. In the summer of 2001, after completing her first year at Michigan, she traveled to Honduras to work in a small village. During that trip,      while visiting Guatemala, she suffered a pulmonary embolism. She reached a hospital in time to be treated for the embolism, but then suffered a stroke that left her paralyzed on her right side and severely affected her ability to speak, read and write. After being flown back to the US, a congenital heart defect was discovered during her hospitalization, and in 2002 she had heart surgery to correct this. Since then Lisa has focused on physical and speech therapy to recover as much independence as possible, and she has made significant progress. Lisa’s favorite hobby is raising butterflies, an interest she acquired in her childhood in Moscow when she went on butterfly collecting trips with her father.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT— While in High School, Lisa worked in the University of Idaho animal lab.  Among the many animals in the lab were several skunks.  The professor in charge of the skunk project assured Lisa that the skunks’ scent glands had been removed.  One day, while checking up on the animals, Lisa discovered that the scent gland of at least one of the skunks was very much intact. While cleaning its cage, Lisa received a full dose directly in her face, burning both eyes and leaving her with a powerful odor. Lisa used gallons of vinegar to exorcise the smell, and she managed to clean herself up sufficiently to keep the event secret from her High School classmates (until now).

MOST EMBARRASSING MOMENT -There were so many.  One in particular involving “parking” and being discovered by the police stands out, but further details might violate the “Keep it Clean” rule.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS?
For the past ten years in the winter I have been skiing and doing freelance camera work and photography.  I've traveled around the world shooting TV shows and ski movies. Recently I was in Nepal shooting Heli-skiing in the Himalayas.  In the summers I run a tree service at Lake Tahoe CA. Year round I take care of my daughter.

WHAT ONE THING WOULD YOU LIKE TO TELL YOUR CLASSMATES AFTER 20 YEARS?
Put off becoming a boring old adult as long as possible.

BRIEFLY BRAG ABOUT YOUR KIDS:
Amie is 15 years old, tall, blonde, and beautiful.  She is a 4.0 honor student and has a terrific work ethic.  She recently performed in her high school musical, danced at Disneyland with a swing dance team and built houses in Mexico with our church youth group.  She shows flare with photography both in front of and behind the camera and contributed a great deal to her high school yearbook.  I genuinely enjoy spending time with her.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST REWARDING ASPECT OF YOUR LIFE SINCE GRADUATION FROM MHS?
I've been a single Dad since Amie was 3 and it has been more rewarding than I thought possible.  Also my job pays me to travel all over the world to ski and shoot some of the most unique places on earth.  It continues to amaze me how similar different people are and how lucky we are to live in the U.S.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS?
I've received my MS degree in fisheries and been working for Idaho Dept. of Fish and Game.  I'm currently the regional fishery manager in Idaho Falls and get to manage the world famous fisheries of the Henrys Fork, South Fork, and Henrys Lake.  I spend a lot of my spare time hunting, fishing, hiking, and, of course, with my family.

WHAT ONE THING WOULD YOU LIKE TO TELL YOUR CLASSMATES AFTER 20 YEARS?
No advice for my classmates, but I would like to say that thinking back and reflecting on the "high school experience" I'd say we  all had the benefit of a great bunch of people and teachers.  I look at other high schools around the state, and it's clear that we were fortunate to be able to go to Moscow HS.

BRIEFLY BRAG ABOUT YOUR KIDS (NAMES AND AGES):
I have two boys ages 5 and 7 named Leif and Lance.  They're remarkably different from each other despite coming from the same parents and looking a lot alike.  One thing they have in common is that they're both great kids and I'm thankful for that.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST REWARDING ASPECT OF YOUR LIFE SINCE GRADUATION FROM MHS?
The most rewarding aspect of my life has been.......I don't know....I guess the whole package.  I have a great wife, two great kids, a great job, and I still see my parents and brother and sister regularly.  Hard to complain about any of that.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT - Oh boy.  There were lots of memorable moments.  It would have to have something to do with Gene Demeerleer and the pinto station wagon.  Maybe the time when we drove by and slushed Kendra Ecton and were laughing so hard we weren't looking and rear ended another car.  We still couldn't stop laughing even though we'd wrecked the pinto.

MOST EMBARRASSING MOMENT?
Most embarrassing moment was just about any time I had to dance.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS?
The past ten years have been monumental for me, as I’ve entered and settled into motherhood and now home-schooling as well.  I have been teaching French privately for most of those years, and have enjoyed switching over to teaching my two girls instead. We have been in the Portland area for 11 years, and we love it here.  The people are diverse, the opportunities abound, and the mild climate is a gardener’s haven.  (Yes, I love to play in the dirt.)  When I’m not outside putzing in the garden, I enjoy cooking, studying and learning---especially the Bible, and leading accountability groups with my husband.  You can also catch me on my        bike or roller-blades in between the year-round picnics we enjoy here in Oregon.

WHAT ONE THING WOULD YOU LIKE TO TELL YOUR CLASSMATES AFTER 20 YEARS?
After 20 years the only advice I can give is that nothing really matters in life but relationships.  Most important of all, our relationship with our Creator-God.  I understand now, more than ever, that nothing lasts except people and God.  Nothing else is worth much time, effort or dedication, because nothing else is forever.  I guess that’s enough to say.  If you want to know more about my statement, please ask me.  I’d love to tell you more about how I’ve come to this conclusion.

BRIEFLY BRAG ABOUT YOUR KIDS:
My kids are my job, at the moment…  Erin, at 10 ½ , is our budding young lady.  She makes us proud with her impressive talent on the piano and her joy in serving others.  She is a natural leader and has an amazing grip on the English language.  Her favorite things in life are dogs, books, and learning new things; reading, magazines and comics; oh, did I mention books?  She has always been known as ‘the child with the creative approach’ to everything.  Thinking outside the box is her specialty.  (I don’t know where she gets such tendencies.)
Emily, soon to be 7, holds her own in the wake of big sister’s activities.  Her curly red hair, sweet freckles and big innocent blue eyes camouflage the spit fire personality that  is Emily.  She is however, at the same time, tender, nurturing, and very snuggly. She often surprises us with her uncanny ability to analyze problems and claims she "has a map in her head, and can even feel the corners!"  Learning to read, playing piano, and losing teeth are the big milestones in her life this year.  We call her ‘our get up and go girl’ because she’s always ready for adventure.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST REWARDING ASPECT OF YOUR LIFE SINCE GRADUATION FROM MHS?
The most rewarding aspect of my life has been my relationship with God. Everything else in life has its ups and downs, but God is consistent.  He never changes, and never disappoints me at all. The other most rewarding things are my relationships with people I love…and people who, amazingly enough, love me.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS?
Exactly what I set out to do, enjoy my family.  I am lucky enough to be a full time mom.  I have been running to soccer and football games, dance and gymnastic classes. (I could go on and on!!)  I have been watching my children grow up, (much too fast) and they amaze me all the time.  I was a Girl Scout leader for six years and have been working with the HOSTS program (Helping One Student To Succeed), working with children at risk learn to read.  My husband and I started a business which I do all of the office work for.  As a family we enjoy our trips back to Idaho, to D.C., Chicago, amusement parks, and love going to Florida.

WHAT ONE THING WOULD YOU LIKE TO TELL YOUR CLASSMATES AFTER 20 YEARS?
Regrets are a waste of time, the past can't be altered, I know this.  But oh, how I wish I could have done things differently. I wish I could have gone through High School without all the doubt.  I wish I could have had just some of the confidence that so many of you had and oh how I wish I hadn't been so shy.  Just once I would have liked to have walked into a room or spoke out loud in class, without being nervous or worrying if I would make a fool of myself.  It would have been so nice to just relax and have fun. High School was not the best time of my life as I hear so many say it is.

BRIEFLY BRAG ABOUT YOUR KIDS (NAMES AND AGES):
I now have three children and wish to have another.   Dustin, who is 17 and will be a Senior in High School this fall.  He's 6'2", weighing in at  215 lbs and he can pick me up and toss me around!!!  He is very much into weight lifting, winning the lift-a-thon this year by bench pressing 310 pounds.  He'll be a starter on the Varsity football team this year, as he was last year when his team earned the League Champ title.
Nichole is 14, as her big brother is finishing High School, she will just be starting.  She's a lot like I was, she likes to stand back and watch, she's quiet and shy.  I admire the way stands her ground with friends and boys and is not afraid to be herself.   She has many friends and is on the phone and/or internet with them most of her waking moments!!!  She's played soccer and went to dance for years and loves taking 4-H pigs to the county fair.
Mariya (pronounced Mariah) is our baby and my cuddle bug, she's 8 years old now and growing fast.  She's our artist, in spirit and talent!!!  The one who amazes us with her art work, she has been able to draw way beyond her age from the time she picked up her first pencil.  Her reading blows me away, she can read any book she picks up!!!  She has a flare for the dramatic and loves to dance and sing.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST REWARDING ASPECT OF YOUR LIFE SINCE GRADUATION FROM MHS?
Number one, My family.  Accomplishing the two things I was told wouldn't happen.  Having a strong marriage and keeping it together and having children.  I was told when I was 18 my chances of getting pregnant were slim to none.  Giving birth and being a mother to three beautiful children is beyond words.  It's quite rewarding to be able to say I have been married for 20 years and he still has that look in his eyes!!!   Especially after all the negative attitude we had to listen to, the Catholic Priest telling us he wouldn't marry us because it would end in divorce.  The odds  were against us, I must admit that.  I will say the first five years were hard ones, enduring more in those few years than most couples do in the life time of their marriage.  It made us stronger, closer, and put things into perspective.

NAME OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – Lena Whitmore

DURING YOUR HIGH SCHOOL YEARS WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE:
SONG - Wow, way too many song I loved to pick jjjjjust one!  Truly & Just You and I, are at the top of my list and were performed at our wedding.
MOVIE – Can't think of one!
         TEACHER - Mr. Frye

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT - Our sophomore year was the only year of High School I really had.  After that I was there to do what I had to do and get out.  I can't say I had one moment I remember most.  I'll always remember the great times I had with Kay and Linda, couldn't have gotten through without best friends.   All the fun at the roller rinks, football and basketball games.  The bus crash coming back from Sandpoint.  Russ's smile when he flirted with me.  I'll always remember my favorite people, Jim Swanson, Shawn Hathaway, and David Howell, who make me smile every time I think of them.

MOST EMBARRASSING MOMENT – I was always embarrassed!

Tom Hallaq

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS?
I worked for awhile in TV news as a newscast director – then was in business management for about 4 ½ years and hated it. When the opportunity to teach broadcasting came, along with the chance to return to the Northwest, I took it. I am now completing my Masters degree in Instructional Media & Technology and hope to work at a college or university.

WHAT ONE THING WOULD YOU LIKE TO TELL YOUR CLASSMATES AFTER 20 YEARS?
Life is too short to be critical or mean to others. Be kind and considerate of others and you will be blessed in the end. (all that we send into the life of others comes back into our own)

BRIEFLY BRAG ABOUT YOUR KIDS (NAMES AND AGES):
I have the 3 most wonderful sons in the world!!!! (no – really, I do). Brayton is 10, Taylor is 8, and Kendall is 5. They all love soccer, Star Wars, golf, and basically, just having fun. We have a great time when we are together. They are very smart and do well in school, although they are each stronger in their own areas. Brayton is a great artist and has thought about being an architect (that could change any day). Taylor says he wants to be a professional soccer player or golfer, and Kendall is just happy and loving towards everyone (he does like Bob the Builder and playing with his own tools).

WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST REWARDING ASPECT OF YOUR LIFE SINCE GRADUATION FROM MHS?
There have been some incredible hardships in my life in the last few years, but also some very rewarding experiences. I think going  through a very difficult divorce has caused me to become more introspective and able to look at myself more objectively in order to work harder on self-improvement, which has always been an interest of mine. I have also been very rewarded through teaching. Both as a teacher in public schools, and just having opportunities to share my experiences with others, I have felt greatly blessed.

NAME OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL  - Russell/ Lena Whitmore

DURING YOUR HIGH SCHOOL YEARS WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE:
SONG – Something from Billy Joel
         TEACHER - Melanie Siebe

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT – Truthfully, I didn’t have a lot of memorable “moments” in high school – mostly memorable people or events. But I think one of the things that always comes to mind when I think of high school was the cafeteria uprising. I think this was our junior year, when Mrs. Ivans was asked to leave her job for baking cookies. I remember Doug Riesenberg and a couple other linemen from the football team, standing at the doorway to the cafeteria, encouraging students not to go inside. A bunch of us ended up at Mrs. Ivans house where she fed us all lunch for several days. Eventually, the school gave in and she got her job back. A great example of how we could all come together for a common cause.

MOST EMBARRASSING MOMENT - I usually forget these pretty quickly, so can’t share any.

MILITARY – No – but I give my greatest respect to those who have.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS?
I've maintained my "stay at home mom" status, as well as continued my hobby of quilting and my love of running. I've also attained a new position for triathalons! I've been training for a 1/2 Ironman in August. And hope to do an Ironman for my 40th Birthday (Oh my, is that only a year and a half away?).

WHAT ONE THING WOULD YOU LIKE TO TELL YOUR CLASSMATES AFTER 20 YEARS?
In reflecting on this question, Paul Thompson comes to mind. He is a great inspiration to all of us. Life is short, LIVE it to your fullest potential. One of my favorite mottos is, "A fit mom is a powerful mom." But you can adjust that to fit all aspects of life and people. Be fit in your passion, whether it is in mond, body, or spirit. Pick your passion and go for it with all you've got.

BRIEFLY BRAG ABOUT YOUR KIDS (NAMES AND AGES):
Sarah is my 11 yr. old. She continues to love reading as well as paddling 6-man outrigger canoes. This is her second summer at it and has already earned several placing medals. Lauren is 7 yrs. old and has a beautiful and kind spirit. She loves to swim and play on the beach, and is my social butterfly. Gracie just turned 4 and is my little body surfer! She has no fear of the ocean and wants to swim on a daily basis. I'm hoping she'll do the pro surfing circuit and support me someday!

Lots of great memories...bombing around Moscow in Jan Hall's blue bug. Walking downtown at lunch hour and getting red licorice ropes at Mr. Davidson's drugstorre for a dime. Cheerleading was a blast, road trips for games, Homecoming, sitting in Doug Johnson's office with Karen Ross and discussing the meaning of life. Also Prom with Dave Fleming, one of the handsomest guys I've ever had the privilege of knowing! Sharing lockers with Diane Carlson, who always made me laugh. There are more, but there isn't enough room on this page....

MOST EMBARRASSING MOMENT?
I fell asleep in the library studying, Dan Norquist threw a paper ball at me and scared me to death. Thankfully I didn't have drool coming out of my mouth!! Of course a whole table of football players were sitting with Dan and were laughing hysterically. I heard about that for a week.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS?
Professionally I am a Dental Hygienist, I have worked in CA, NC, CO and plan on working in TX and than back in Europe. I love to read and quilt. In a military community volunteering is an easy way to meet people. So I spend a lot of time volunteering with Boy Scouts, elementary school, community spouses clubs and military organizations.

WHAT ONE THING WOULD YOU LIKE TO TELL YOUR CLASSMATES AFTER 20 YEARS?
I had never moved until I met and married my husband, Michael. Now I cannot imagine staying in one place for any great length of time. I can say that home is where the heart is and not locked into a certain place. So I have made my best friends by this motto: Chance made us neighbors but hearts made us friends.

BRIEFLY BRAG ABOUT YOUR KIDS (NAMES AND AGES):
We have two children, John and Kaitlyn. John is 13. He loves traveling (good thing as a military child), Boy Scouts, cross-country and track, acting in the theatre and roller blading. He hates doing his chores. Kaitlyn is 5. She was put on earth to keep me from being a smug parent. She loves running, playing Barbies and house, and being in kindergarten and challenging her mom. She dislikes traveling unless it involves a swimming pool.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST REWARDING ASPECT OF YOUR LIFE SINCE GRADUATION FROM MHS?
Being a mom and the wife of a soldier. As a family we have traveled and seen so many things that we never would have if Michael had chosen a different occupation. Since I graduated from MHS I have lived in AL, AK, KY, NC, TX, NC, CA, KS, CO, Germany, with plans to move to TX this summer and move back to Germany 2004. I have met and made so many friends along the way. Our family takes advantage of every area we have lived to see and do everything that community has to offer. For us it has been a great life, full of challenges but always rewarding.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS?
In 1990 I married my handsome Prince, and in 1996 we welcomed our first daughter Cheri into the world.  In 1998 we greeted our second daughter Sarah into our family.  During this time, I decided to further my education achievements and enrolled at Portland Community College to complete my Elementary Education degree.  And I have started painting again.  I have chosen watercolor as my medium.

WHAT ONE THING WOULD YOU LIKE TO TELL YOUR CLASSMATES AFTER 20 YEARS?
The greatest advice and life experience I have to offer is to follow your dreams and don’t let your fears of failure or judgment stand in your way of your accomplishments.

BRIEFLY BRAG ABOUT YOUR KIDS:
I am very proud of my two daughters who are both beautiful and talented in their own unique way.  Cheri, who is six, completed 1st grade this June and is an accomplished reader and math whiz.  Her ability to read astonishes me because at her age we were still learning the alphabet.  And I am proud of her confidence in her skills and achievements which I lacked at her age.  Sarah my four year old is my little princess (dresses like one too) is strong willed and an achiever who knows exactly what she wants, and she will also be an accomplished learner in school.  She has strong critical thinking skills even for her age, and I believe it will only       strengthen with school and encouragement.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS?
I’ve been working at Northrop Grumman, (formerly TRW) for 12 years.  Developing, Testing, and Training the US military on UAV systems, mainly the Hunter (RQ-5A).  UAV’s, (Unmanned Air Vehicles), are remotely operated aircraft that conduct reconnaissance, surveillance, target acquisition and target attack over the battle field keeping the “pilot” safe on the ground.  I still enjoy Water and Snow Skiing, Hiking, Camping and Softball.  I will not be attending the reunion this time since I will be supporting the military in deployed locations outside the U.S.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS?
Was a Seattle Firefighter and paramedic for 7 years, but found it was way too political for my tastes, although it was a very fulfilling occupation. Went into business for myself and did very well. As I write this, I'm finishing up a second Master's Degree in Organizational Management.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS?
I have been working as a flight attendant for Northwest Airlines for 17 years and am language qualified in Japanese.  A careful balance of full time classes during the week and weekend trips to Japan have finally resulted in a college degree.  Woohoo!  Last spring I graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a double major (BA) in Asian studies, Japan, and art history—surprisingly, with high honors.  Merit scholarships supported me throughout college.  I guess I am a late bloomer.  Currently I am in a Ph.D. program at UH.  Occasionally I exhibit my paintings, but I am very involved in other areas of art in the community, such as curating exhibitions, designing galleries, organizing festivals and other public events.  My interest in Japan has led to community activities, such as presentations on cultural appreciation at grade schools, Japan Bowl, and tea presentations.  During the last six years I have been very involved in the study of Japanese tea ceremony, essentially a Zen practice.
During the summers I usually study or intern.  For example one summer I spent drawing in Italy, and another I spent in an intensive language program in Tokyo.  In 1998, while interning in D.C., I ran into Erica Johnson at the Capitol!  What a small world.  My hobbies include scuba diving, tennis, karate, Latin dance, ceramics, and others.

WHAT ONE THING WOULD YOU LIKE TO TELL YOUR CLASSMATES AFTER 20 YEARS?
“It is the sins of omission, rather than commission that we regret in life.”  A wise woman told me this recently, and I agree. Always be open to new experiences and ideas with a spirit of adventure and joy.  Life is far too short.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS? Wow, This is a long one.  I’ve been busy.  When last we talked I had just bought Link Transportation Systems, Inc, and it was consuming most of my free time.  What spare time I did have I was serving on the Moscow Chamber of Commerce, and was Chamber President in 1996/97.  I was appointed to the Idaho Public Transportation Advisory Commission, by then Governor Phil Batt, and served as Chair of the Commission in 1998/99. I served as President of Moscow Community Theater from 1995-1999.  After I sold Link in 1999, I convinced the Kenworthy family to donate the Kenworthy Theater to Moscow Community Theater, and then transfer ownership to the Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre Board (KPAC) to hold in Public Trust as a performing arts venue for Moscow.  I served as chair of the KPAC until they made me the Executive Director later in 2000, which I did until December of last year (2002) when they made me the Artistic Director, which I am still doing.  Now I get to do all the fun stuff and don’t have to deal with all the drudgery.
In January of this year I also took on a contracted position as the Downtown Events Coordinator, which I have really enjoyed and am currently organizing a Downtown Merchants Association.   In 1998, I appointed by Mayor Agidius to the Moscow Transportation Advisory Commission and in 2000 Mayor Comstock appointed me to the Planning and Zoning Commission, I’m still serving on both.
In 1994 I worked on the “No on 1” campaign (The Anti-Gay Initiative), after which I met the love of my life, Wil Hendrick.  We were together for 5 years until January 10, 1999, when he disappeared without a trace.  His story appeared on Missing Persons, and Unsolved Mysteries, neither produced any real leads in the case.  Last September a skull and jawbone were found by hunters in rural Latah County and were later confirmed to be Wil’s.  We still don’t know the events surrounding his death but the Police, Sheriff, and FBI are treating it as a homicide.  Until then they had treated the incident as a walk-a-way.
After Wil’s disappearance, and after I sold Link I took an 8-month leave of absence and trekked around Costa Rica.  I have decided that I will be moving there within the next few years, and if things work out should be living in Moscow 6 months of the year and in Costa Rica the other 6 months. Currently I’m exporting Americans on vacations and importing organic, fair-wage coffee from Costa Rica.  If you want to look at a vacation there just check out my website.

WHAT ONE THING WOULD YOU LIKE TO TELL YOUR CLASSMATES AFTER 20 YEARS?
Most of you treated me like shit, and I forgive and thank you, because it helped make me a stronger person; and, I don’t take shit from anyone anymore.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST REWARDING ASPECT OF YOUR LIFE SINCE GRADUATION FROM MHS?
Finding and losing the love of my life.  Wil will always be a big part of my life. Someday I hope to find someone as warm, caring, and joyful who can share my life, and we can grow older together.  For those of you who are married or have a partner, don’t ever take them for granted. What you have is precious.  Love is very special and you will never know how special, until you loose it.  Tell them that you love them everyday, and hug your kids.  They are just as precious.

I am very thankful that I grew up in Moscow and attended 12 years of school there. The friends I made (and still have) and the experiences I had provided me with a strong basis on which to build the rest of my life. Many people I know look back on their high school years with negative feelings.  I have so many wonderful memories and am so thankful!

Paul Thomson
1964 – 2003

Paul Thomson, 38, died at his home in Broomfield, Colo., on May 19 after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born in San Diego, Calif., in 1964 to Bill and Cinda Thomson and came to Moscow with his parents in 1966. He attended the Presbyterian Preschool, West Park Elementary School and then graduated from Moscow High School in 1983. He earned a B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Idaho in 1988, and spent his career working in the instrumentation field; first for Exac Corporation in San Jose, Calif., and then for Micromotion in Boulder, Colo. He enjoyed traveling and his career as an applications engineer took him to many places in Europe and Asia. He was a marketing manager for Micromotion in Calgary, Canada when he was first diagnosed with cancer.
He was known for his way with words, which he often demonstrated with a quick wit, and for his remarkably diverse knowledge. He used his knowledge as a member of the championship Moscow "High School Bowl" team and later, as captain of the University of Idaho "College Bowl" team, who made it to the national quarter finals before losing to Georgia Tech in a nationally televised broadcast in 1987.
He had an optimistic view of life and the world, even when dealing with the terminal nature of pancreatic
cancer. From his first diagnosis through two years of chemotherapy, brain surgery, and radiation therapy, he shared his experiences with his family and many friends by means of periodic e-mails, which he labeled, "updates," and which were filled with his witticisms. For example, when all treatments were finally exhausted, he sent out a final e-mail, titled, "Don't buy any green bananas." He was a practitioner of martial arts, an avid skier and loved music, particularly Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead.
He is survived by his wife, Carol, and two step children, Dana and Zachary at the family home in Broomfield; by his father, Bill, and step mother, Ardis Stone, in Moscow, and by his sisters: Leslie, in Santa Cruz, Calif., Amy in Anchorage, Alaska, and Katherine, in San Francisco, Calif.; and by his brother, Ray, in San Francisco. He also leaves behind, his nieces, Holly, Gillian and Abby and nephews, Max and Rafi. He was preceded in death by his mother, Cinda, in 1994.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, June 14 at 1 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Moscow. There was also  an informal gathering of his friends Saturday evening, at the Garden Lounge where a pint or two was toasted in his memory. The family suggests contributions in lieu of flowers to either the American Cancer Society, the Dream Foundation or to the Hospice of the Palouse.

(now Sue Webster)

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS?
The last ten years have been very full for my family and me. My husband passed away in October of 1993, so raising two kids by myself has been somewhat challenging, but extremely rewarding. After High School I moved to Spokane where we lived until 4 years ago. I have been working in Pullman at a Plant Breeding Institution for the last 4 years and I enjoy it a whole lot. I have found that gardening and working with plants of all types is what keeps me relaxed and centered. Keeping up with my teenage children takes up most of my time, running them from point A to point B. But I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

WHAT ONE THING WOULD YOU LIKE TO TELL YOUR CLASSMATES AFTER 20 YEARS?
Live and enjoy your life to the fullest. Don’t allow negative or petty things get in the way of being true to yourself and others. But most importantly I have learned throughout the years to laugh, laugh, laugh! It is good for the soul.

BRIEFLY BRAG ABOUT YOUR KIDS (NAMES AND AGES):
I have a son, Brandon, 17 who will be a senior at Pullman High in the fall. I also have a daughter Britne, 14 who will be a freshman at Pullman in the fall. I could not have asked for better children. I think that they are great. I really have been blessed.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST REWARDING ASPECT OF YOUR LIFE SINCE GRADUATION FROM MHS?
The most rewarding aspect would have to be my marriage to a wonderful man and the birth of my two kids.

DURING YOUR HIGH SCHOOL YEARS WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE:
         SONG - “Stairway to Heaven”
         MOVIE – Halloween I
         TEACHER - Mr. Weisel

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT - GRADUATING!!!!!
