Drives
power of pen on paper
fluid black ink
spreading across the page
streaking syllables, spattering indigo tears.
heart pounding like
a bass drum carrying
the body as you come into view
cymbals crash, face frozen, eyes peeled
panic attacks neurons
perspiration pours
must do well
butterflies spread their wings, fluttering
emptiness inside
fuzzy, nagging sensations
spread through stomach
lion roars commencing the instinctive hunt
lids slipping shut
neck nodding, body beat
dozing into the unconscious
drifting between mermaids and sharks
